1971 FJ40 Trail Rig...

This is the 'Red Truck' Landry and I rescued from Ocean Springs, MS. Most have heard the story of the truck, the water and how we almost died getting it on the trailer. I was planning to make it a parts truck then a trail rig... now, just gonna sell it to move on to another project.

Remember the rig was UNDER WATER in the storm so we're not sure what is actually in it...condition-wise.. but this is what it has..

1971 FJ40
Chevy 350 - no workie (prolly toast)
Twin stick TC
Seems to be an SM465 under it.
Rear tub rotten.... front.. not so bad
ARB lockers front and rear
4 wheel disc brakes
No hood for the moment and Theriot has the winch lol...

Hey guys. Hope all is well in Coonass land! As some of you know we lost my Step Dad not long ago. He will be missed by all of my CLC buddies. He cooked for us a few times. He always traveled in his red 86 4 runner. I have this truck now and we have decided to sell it. I am going to offer it up on mud before I put it on the street. The truck has a ton of miles 380K+ but the motor has around 150K. The tranny (auto) and t-case were rebuilt a few years back and a new fuel pump (in tank) was replaced days before he died. One spot of rust under drivers tail light. Straight body. The red paint is like every other old red Toyota. Needs paint but not rusting. Stock suspension with 31x10.5 AT's. Regular maint. was done on this truck and if something needed replaced he replaced it. We are looking to get around $1800 for this truck. Drive it home no problem. I'll try to post pics soon.

A friend at work has 5 265-70-17 Super Swamper TSL's for sale. 2 are new 2 have about 60% tread and the other has a cut but holds air (spare). He want's $325 for all 5. PM me for his info if interested.

wct49 here on mud has a box that I know he will part with. PM him if anyone is interested. He did a Saginaw conversion so he has some other parts as well. You'll just have to ask.

Painter Needed

Hey guys...can anyone recommend a good painter that will paint parts individually if I bring it to them (considering hood, fenders, etc.)? I am still doing all of my due diligence in this rig.

I just got the inside scoop on this a few weeks ago. Can't remember the guy's name right off hand but I'll see his wife this week and will get that to you. I think there are a few others that the guys in the club know as well that may chime in sooner.

I have a friend that does it for me. I can ask him for you and maybe pick them up and take them for you when I take mine. How soon you looking to do it?
 
Joe Malbrough found the BSLCA website today and asked that I refresh this post. His 78 is still 4-Sale and now asking 8K. Joe has visited here and reminded me exactly what post # it was. Joe if you care to comment feel free to do so. This rig under went a complete frame off back 98 - 99 has 350 advanced adapter/4spd tranny/3spd case only thing I wish we would have done different was to source fenders/aprons/bib and hood instead of going with the all in one fiberglass frontend from Spectre but back then we didn't have access to internet and everything we have now. At least I didn't. Built two rigs by faxing in orders to Spectre and Manafre catalogs. This was actually a parts rig I had bought and a friend talked me into selling it and building for him. Joe bought it from him.

If any members are interested I'll take any reasonable offer. You probably know more about it than I do, haven't changed much but added PS, new carburetor with MSD ignition and electric radiator fan. Just don't have time for it anymore and would like it to go to someone who actually knows what type of vehicle it is.

This truck is now at a dealer on the corner of Louisiana Avenue and the Thruway. Looks really good but as Landry has seen first hand, there are some serious issues hidden away.
