Hi Folks,

I'm looking at a couple 2013 LX570's near me that seem as interesting deals based on mileage and asking price. I am not new to Land Cruisers (I've had an 80 and a 100) and I am also familiar with the 200 but in Turbo Diesel form only. The trucks I am looking at have 70K miles and 130K miles, and asking prices are $42k and $36 respectively.

I have some questions regarding equipment, specifications and maintenance on the LX that I'd like to be clear on before I take the plunge. I tried plugging the VINs into the Lexus owners website for service history but I can't make it work... Anyone have a hint on what I might be doing wrong?

In any case, what I'd like to know is when is the Water Pump and Timing Belt services are due? If I recall correctly, it was 150K miles on the 100 series... What is the expected mileage for transmission service/maintenance? What are key "Must-Not-Miss" maintenance items for +120K mile use?

Regarding equipment and specs:
Do all LXs come with two keys and the key-card? The dealer quoted $400+ to provide the missing Key Card for one of them...
Can someone tell me if the 2013 model year is equipped with collision avoidance assist? What about radar guided cruise (have it on my 04LS and I love it)?
Do all LX's come with the cold box in the center arm-rest?

I will likely have some more questions once I drive both this weekend, but I want to be ready to look into the details when I do so.

Thanks in advance,
Andres

It should come with 2 "keys"...lock / unlock / panic button remote control. Sliding into the side of the case is a key that will unlock the truck and glove compartment. The truck definitely needs to have the remote control near the start button to start the truck. It also should have come with 2 sets of headphones if equipped with middle seat monitors, and a trailer hitch cable if it has a trailer hitch.

100 series has its timing belt replacement scheduled every 90k, that normally includes the water pump as it needs removal to get to the belt. The 5.7L engine uses a timing chain, not a belt. No idea of the water pump interval, but I'll replace mine at ~100K as PM.

No idea about collision avoidance. '13's have radar cruise. All LX's do not come with a cold box, but those that don't are not too common.

All ‘13 + Land Cruisers have radar, I’d assume it’s the same with LX 570’s unless they received that tech even sooner.

Should also come with a single remote for the middle seat monitors. If it comes with the middle seat monitors. Those are optional.

The thin credit card -ish lexus card key is also optional. Really just need the two smart keys with the keys that slide into them.
$400? Yup that's a Lexus price alright. If inclined one could acquire/program themselves for half-ish that... Assuming one really wanted the card key. But that's moot at this point.

Radar cruise control too, is optional on the '13 LX. The LC came with all options and the LX had many add-ons.

See page 6 for a summarized list of standard and optional features... that could be used to check for and test things.

I'll leave the break/fix/maintenance things for others to chime in.

When I was looking at a 2010 in another city I emailed Lexus customer satisfaction (customer_satisfaction_inquiries@lexus.com) with the VIN to find out exactly what options it had and they responded within 24 hrs.

Your options are likely to be different form the US domestic models we're familiar with.

I've tried numerous times to access the Lexus maintenance history for my LX570, with no luck. The Toyota system works well, but it seems Lexus can't their all their stuff in one sock.

It's my understanding that the key cards are overseas options; we don't have them here. (may have been a model year change, mine's 2008)
The cold boxes are standard overseas; mine doesn't have one.
The radar is an option here, as is the collision avoidance.
There are no maintenance worries on the 200 series, other than the cam tower leaks, which I think were confined to an assembly problem about five years ago. I replaced my starter at 100k; It hav 113k on it now. (I bought it five years ago, for about the price you're looking at, with 45k on it)
I've had the fluids changed (although they're lifetime, as if that could be) and other than that, I put gas in it and drive it. Daily.
Everything works flawlessly, on and off road. Towing is acceptable, but it's not a 1-ton pick up, so that doesn't bother me.

I had an issue using the Ctrl + C (copy) Ctrl + V (paste) method into the VIN box on the Toyota owners site. It would never recognize it successfully. What I tried to do was either type the entire thing manually into the box, or paste into the box, delete and then retype the last character, then voila! it worked.

You reminded me that I need to ensure the Rear Entertainment remote is with the car along with the headsets. Good to know about timing chain, one less thing to worry about. Thanks Steve!

Checked with the dealer, the car has radar the cruise.

Thank you! I don't believe I need the car either, just another bargaining chip.

Went online with them on Chat and worked it out. The full history is there. Amazing

Thanks! I am actually buying this for use here in US. I am far away from any dealer (100 miles or so from the closest' one) so I have to research in advance to make my trip over there worth the while.
