Sorry if this post shows my ignorance. I am looking for a Troopy. I love the 11 seat troop carriers. I think the models I am looking for are FJ45, HJ 45, FJ 47 (pre-1990). I doesn't have to be fully restored but in a respectable condition, with none to minimal rust. Specifically, It needs to be Left hand drive. I have looked at some that where right hand drive - but they won't work for my family. I have searched everywhere. Any help is appreciated! I am looking to join "the family."

That Red Troopy that sold was wonderful. The rust is hard to get out once it starts to eat the machine. Finding one without rust is so difficult. I am signing papers tomorrow on a troopy here in South Africa (I live in Zimbabwe). The builder is giving me an option of 2H 2F or carbed 3F. I have searched the forum and while I can find a rabid love affair with diesel engines, no one waxes eloquent as to why they are in love. Seems like lower power, lower overall torque and slower speed are no match for a 3F. Without hijacking the thread, can anyone say exactly why people are so enamored with the H and 2H? Doesn't the injected 3F get about the same mileage?

I'm guessing not?, I have a 2h troopy, absolutely love it I average 25 mpg.. the 2h seems like it runs forever with no mechanical problems. now of course this is just based on my own personal opinion

Nice Troopies are very hard to find in Europe, there are not many and 90% you will just be buying a bill

I'm wondering if in Africa you are, wouldn't you want low torque, and somewhat slow versus speed and 11mpg? Just curious

After 10 years of living outside the US I am going home in 7 months. I will be taking the truck with me. It will not be a daily driver and my guy is adding a 70-series aux tank so my range will still be around 350-400 miles. With the efi kit added, you think it will still be 11 mpg? We need to get off this thread. ekhyde at hotmail.com. Sorry TN Trooper.
