Looking for some help on rear window switch

1984 Toyota 4Runner. the rear window will not roll down unless I take the switch off and use a test light to touch the harness. I'm gettting power to the switch and the motor. I don't know if I'm dealing with a ground or what. I don't think it's the wiper switch. Any help would be appreciated.

Does it work from the key switch on the tailgate? The 2 switches operate a handful of relays on a control board located just behind the drivers seat inside the body.

Do you mean that you can jump the wires on the harness and get it to work? If so, I would take the switch apart and clean the contacts. It's not too complicated.
