Hi All-

Anyone have a set of 60 series wheels lying around they want to let go cheap? I'd prefer the OEM chrome wagon wheels but let me know what you've got- I want a set to mount my snow tires on. Obviously they don't have to be showroom ;)

Second question, any recommendations for snow tires for the new HJ60? I make a couple of trips to the Kootenays every year and depending on the vagaries of weather it can get pretty hairy. I'm hauling the wife and kids so it has to be solid...

Thanks in advance guys-

Andrew

I like my Nokian Vattiivas (Kal tire) Best combination of very effective snow tire, rain tire, dry tire and well wearing year round that I've found. Fairly aggressive tread, yet quiet on the highway. 6 ply for strength. They got me down from Whistler on Monday morning without a moment of doubt through packed snow, packed snow being rained on, packed snow turned to ice, slush on top of ice, slush, huge puddles on pavement and small rivers across the highway... (OK, there was one moment of fear when I tried to pass some desperate tourist and the passing lane had 8 inches of rutted slush and ice filling it- but all turned out well)

nokians tires are very nice.

the new cooper winter tire is quite nice too. we run those at work.

Cooper makes a nice affordable snow tire.
And they are super great. Only like $760
235/85/16's is as big as they go.

Cheers,
Nick

EDIT: Just saw BB's responce. Go for the Cooper's!

I have a set of four 235/75 BFG AT's on chrome 60 wheels & i think i have all center caps.
Tires are 75% or better.
Your's for a bidecaquadrapod of Bud Light.

how much did kal tire ding you and how have they done offroad? I was looking at the vattiva MTs for the 80 but they look to be unbelievably spendy.

Kal tire quoted me just over $1100 for a set of 31" Nokians (without studds) Studding will bring it up at least another $100 - 140. So far my current AT tires have been working well in the snow, as they have good siping and that TC Snow symbol for winter whether. Interior trips are in Jan-Mar, so still may anti up the cash for them or the Coopers. Nick, where did you get your Coopers for that price? I checked them out at Discount Tire in Bellingham and they were near that price and probably over once the GST is paid at the border. The Coopers studded did test well but still did not match the Nokians studded.

Cheers!

Thanks all for the info- great stuff! I had around $1000 set aside for the tires- is it worthwhile spending the extra 300 or so for the Nokians, considering they will get used, but only around 3000Km a year?

Vince, would definitely be interested in the wheels, thanks for the offer. I'll be in Abbotsford on the 14th if you want to PM me about a pickup, let me know what works for you.

Cheers, Andrew
