I live a couple miles from lake wallenpaupack... about 30 mins from scranton..

Awesome will do.... Planning on working on my 40 this sunday hopefully get most of the last minute things done. Are there any other cruiser heads around?

David... Will be working on the cruiser this sun trying to finish up some stuff. Still gotta do a little welding on the front floor, then try and rebuild the tranny cove,r finish the rear bumper/swing out tire carrier that I made then weld it on, put the seats in and fix a rear brake line and its finally done. Hopefully will be able to get most of it done on suday and get it back on the trail been in the garage way too long.

77landsitter - Sounds great... Tell me more bout ur rig... Where in the poconos do u work? Im off exit 20 of I84... But work in hazelton.

I work in Scotrun. The current rig is a 86 fj60 on 33's pretty much stock minus the lift and front bumper. Have two 40's. The first is a 74 which has an SOA performed by the PO. It is quite scary on the road so i'm looking into a cut n turn and high steer options. This will be my firt adventure into a cut n turn so any advice would be highly appreciated. The 2nd is a 78 which I think I will be parting out to finance the 74. 78 has a fiberglass tub and alot of good parts if anyone needs anything. Also have a 85 fj60 for parts. If anyone is interested in helping out with the SOA correction I would gladly host a wrenching day at my shop complete with pizza beer and possible trade parts for help.ThanksDanny

Ahh scotrun,,, or as it looks if your driving fast past the exit scrotum... I would be interested in helping with the cut and turn but have not done it before as I will prolly want to do a SOA sometime for some more lift... PM me with a list of parts from the 78... Might be some stuff I need..

Id love to hit raush creek... Never been there b4.. I used to wheel in Hazelton at Paragon and now I work like a mile from there... Shame they are not here anymore. Just need to get my FJ done first... Im so close its killing me...

wheeling in PA

Guys- I'm associated with the dormant Appalchian group, since Jeff Dozier moved to Kentucky the club has done very little. Few members show up for events at rausch and there certainly seems to have been a general drop in interest. Understandable I guess as other things in life take priority.

You can wheel at rausch any weekend. Fridays are usually great as there are few wheelers in the park. Weekends when they have events can be interesting. Two weeks ago at the pig run in addition to our small group and a few others there was a 53-truck jeep affair. We ran into only one jeep group in the park that day. While not as large as PParagon, Rausch is still plenty big enough to avoid congestion on most days.

The pig run was held two weekends ago. It drew five Toyota trucks and two jeeps. Says something for the interest a "Toyota event" generates around here. Not that the PR is a big deal- it's not. It's as informal as you can imagine, but we did in the past have as many as 13 FJ55's show for the event. The first pig run was 2005 and it drew five vehicles the most we ever had was 32.

You should have been at the Coal Mine event- right in our backyard and a first class event in every way. It is the best way to meet fellow land cruiser owners. Lots of great people from all over the eastern part of the country and also from other areas. I repeat it is a Toyota event not to miss.

Next event at rausch, Toyota- wise is the Fall Crawl. It's scheduled for October 8, 9, and 10 and is a classy event with a good meal and raffle saturday evening. By October the park isn't as crowded and the fall weather is great for campfires and camping. Most of these guys are from Virginia and Maryland and they camp free right at Rausch.

People wise there are several knowledgeable guys in the area. John and Craig Merkey are not only great people but have been around land cruisers for years. John is a tremendous builder and fabricator. There are a few guys with multiple cruisers in their stable. Dan from easton is a friend of mine we have done some business in the past. Matt Reed in Kutztown has been a regular for years and Steve Colavito from the Reading area has a few cruisers. Todd Slater in the suburban Philly area has nice stable, too. Lots of cruisers around, believe me. My 40 is sprung over- knuckles turned, high steer, 4 wheel discs, full roll cage, etc. Come see and talk with me if you are interested. My 80 is lifted on a 4" OME setup and runs 35" tires. My tow vehicle is a 2004 V8 4Runner. I have a garage full of parts and always have a few cruisers on hand. I'm in the Tamaqua/Pottsville area. I have a 35 minute commute to Rausch from my Place and the drive to Paragon was just about the same for me.

I'm headed to New Hampshire at the end of September for the Fall Gathering sponsored by the Yankee Toys, and I'll be at the Fall Crawl at Rausch the following weekend. I'm always open for a day of wheeling at Rausch and actually can four wheel on the mountain behind my house whenever I want. Come out to Brockton and I can show you some trails- have had cruiser guys from all over the place wheel at my house over the years.

Best advice is to get to one of the events. let me know ahead of time if you'll be there and look me up- I'm an easy guy to find and to get along with. I've led a lot of trail runs over the years and my intention every trip is for everyone to have an enjoyable time. if anyone is interested in resurrecting the Appalchian club I would be more than glad to help- I have the club banner in my garage and there is still a balance in the checking account. Feel free to contact me either through a Mud message, on this club forum, or email shmukter@pa.metrocast.net. Stay dry this weekend. Thanks, Gary S (Shmukster)

Well said Gary! Always lots of things going on in life! Would be great to get the club together again....if even just for wings! I am always in for wings on a Sunday afternoon again!

My FJ40 is sitting now until I replace the 33 year old metal brake lines, blew the front one out where it rusted through last night as I drove it. Brake fluid everywhere! Thought it was the master cylinder until I stopped and checked the fluid level and seen the fluid everywhere!

put a vice-grip on the line and drove home and rinsed everything off and parked it until I can make a new line. Have lots of line, from the other project that's on hold until my bathroom is finished...almost done!

Craig

Gary and all,

I have been thinking about the ALCA a lot lately. I was bummed that I missed the pig run - but I don't check here often and didn't know about it until late into the weekend of the event!

Would any of you be interested in an old fashioned email mailing list to help notify the group of events?

I have certainly been at a tough spot over the past 5 or 6 years either with no truck to wheel, or too many family obligations with small children in the house.

I believe I am now at a good point to have the time to be involved.

How do we ressurect this club?

CAZ

I wish I could have made more events this year. Unfortunately I crashed my motorcycle about a month ago and have been on the mend and not able to work on the 80 at all. I have every intention to make the fall crawl at rausch. Hope to see some old and new faces.

Yes well put Dr. Shmukster. Hated to miss the Pig Run this year but it conflicted with my X5th HS re-onion. Life continues to change but I'll continue to do what I can and harass the living crap out of you all. Spent the hurricane on the boat while the :princess: held down the fort at home...fortunately uneventful on both counts. Eldest daughter and her boyfriend bugged out of Vabeach in her freshly redone 62 to keep herself and it out of harms way.

Did someone say WINGS !!!

WHATABOUT COLD BEVERAGES ???

Fellow landcruiser lovers

Whats up guys, I am fairly new to the Scranton area (Hamlin pa, 20 min from Scranton) and am looking to get in touch with some guys who share my love of these badass trucks. My crusher is the first and only vehicle I have ever owned and we have been through a lot together. I have lived all around western pa upstate ny and most recently in boulder colorado and my 96' 80 series has always been by my side. I have been using it as a daily driver and camping/offroad rig since I was 16 and now I am ready to start making it into the beast it really wants to become. I am hoping to start with a lift and tires this summer but have limited mechanical experience so we will see how that goes. Let me know if somone wants to do some trail riding or would be willing to give me a hand or advice on upgrades this spring/summer.
