When I was on my way out to Knik glacier for an after ACT run Orange's power steering idler bearing burnt up. A replacement bearing was sourced from a mini truck and put back in. Unfortunately, this replacement burned up on the drive home.

I finally had a chance to take it apart and give it a closer look last night. It appears as though it wasn't just the bearing that was damaged during the bearing failures.

I know that these parts will swap over with some of the mini trucks and 60 series but am not certain which years will.

This is the bracket that is in Orange that the bearing assembly bolts to. Note: the adjuster is located on the back side of the bracket:

This is what the assembly looks like mounted into the truck:

This is what the parts look like disassembled:

It appears as though the nut, dust cover & pulley are reusable. The bolt is bent, the spacer is damaged (metal sheared off) and the adjusting bolt broke (because I am strong like bull!... or perhaps it's because the infrared thermometer measured the temps on the bearing to be in excess of 350 degrees and that did some undetectable damage).

Anyway, I looked at SOR's online catalogue but couldn't find anything... (perhaps a phone call is needed)

I'll try the DC stealership but suspect they'll tell me they can't get the parts because they appear to be off a fork lift.

So.........

Does anyone happen to know what vehicles came with power steering set ups like this?

Does anyone happen to have these parts and are willing to let me take them off their hands?

Thanks.

Hey I had the idler bearing go in my 60 years ago, I just went to BC bearing and got a bearing with the same OD, but slightly larger ID for about $16, and then went to a machine/fab shop that had a lathe, brought the 2 parts and they made up a bushing for about $20 and pressed it in.

its still working fine.

45 Kevin (awl-teq) might have a spare as he took ians old 3B on saturday, and he works at a machine shop as well
