Hey all. I recently purchased a 2006 LX470 and will be making it trail ready over the next few months. I will be adding front and rear bumpers and lifting 2.5". Also want a flat rack on top. Does anybody have a recommendation for a reputable shop in or around Austin, Texas who can recommend kits and handle the work (and stand behind it). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers

I was going to say to just buy the lift components and do it yourself. It's not that difficult...but I remembered that the LX had AHC and it might be a pain in the butt to remove.

Call Edwin at Land Cruiser Specialist here in NW Austin.

4wheel parts can help too. Just wait for a good sale. They always have one. :)

Thanks. X3. I've gots kids and a restaurant, no time or tools for doing it myself. Dropped by LC Specialists today. Guys name I believe was Sean. Lot's of help.

Well when it comes to bumpers, sliders, armor in general it saves a ton to do it yourself and it is pretty easy... know I for one wouldn't mind lending a hand a some tools.

And congrats on the clean LX

X4, Edwin is "the" man.

I am doing the same to 2004 with AHC and using a AHC flush before adding weight and I am buying fluid online since Toyota Autonation south doesn't have any?? How do they service AHC vehicles...beats me.
Remember torque up the front (Ive read up to 3 to 5 turns initially and some more every year but..?..) and you can add stronger springs (Kings) in back to balance numbers. Also may want to put in spacers in the back again to balance numbers. People on here have used LC springs with the knowledge of the LX being softer than LC. So lots of choices with 100 or even 80 series springs - some report too harsh. Kings are in between the LX and LC and these are my current plan with 30mm spacers. Not bought anything yet since I just spent (today) a ton for my FJ40. Check out SLee web site for their 1.5" and 2.5" OME suspensions. Part numbers are included in most cases. Going higher is $$$ and probably a waist. I also plan HD Upper Control Arms and diff drop.

Local knowledge says no locker needed for local events but if like me you plan to go further say Colorado then lockers may be in order later on.

You will need the special connector and a reader for normal level numbers for AHC and doing before and after. You can check the difference between low and high levels or settings in the reservoir and it should be a difference of 7+ marks to show your system is good shape, otherwise your looking at serious coin to fix and going to convention suspension may be cheaper.

Others just torque up the front and added the king springs and spacers and declare victory.
I don't have these special tools and the threads on here are years old but as I find out more I will PM you. Part of me wants to buy a built non AHC 100 but I already have 3 LCs so wife is not on board with another one!

If I can help with my research - " staring at this web site way too long" - let me know.

Cheers and let me know what your going with in terms of bumper and sliders et al. I recommend sliders with kick out at rear - just saved me while driving someone else's 100 surrounded by rocks.
