My LX came with a front, license plate bracket, but the LCs I have owned did not come with any sort of bracket, just holes in the bumpers that do not seem to line up with US tags. I am in hopes that Toyota makes a bracket that uses those holes and provides corect holes for US tags.

Anyone see or have such a bracket?

Not made by Toyota, but I use one of these between the license plate and the truck: http://smile.amazon.com/Cruiser-Accessories-79150-Mounting-Plate/dp/B00032K4VA/?tag=ihco-20

It is an adapter for holding the license plate. Here is the problem before the adapter:

Yup, confirmed at both the dealership where I purchased and my local one that there's no Toyota bracket. Both places said they just use self tapping screws. After pondering the matter for a couple of days I just figured what the hell, it's a Land Cruiser destined to do what Land Cruisers do and it's not going in a museum...

I thought about that too. Just thought since my LX came with a bracket for US plates that Toyota would offer one similar for the LC.

Another option is to take an old frame (black/chrome etc), turn it around and put the
plate in face up. Gives an understated surround w/o garish logos.

No.... Idk, I'm really picky about stuff like that. Even if I'm going to beat the piss out of a car, I'll be damned if I'm going to let someone drill holes in it

This license plate adapter worked great on my 2017 TLC. It was originally marketed for Subaru's that have mounting holes for Japanese style plates, but works for the Land Cruiser. You have to take off the mounting brackets then use the rubber grommets it comes with.

Will any of these brackets work for a 2009 LC? I'm looking for a long-lasting bracket or mounting point for a standard sized novelty license plate.

TIY.

Most states only care if you change the markings...even Kalifornistan...
