Looking for a clean BJ42 or FJ40 running and driving well. Some rust but nothing rotting . I want something I can drive while slowly improving over the years. Budget is $5000. Will buy from anyone anywhere as long as its LHD. If you are selling of even if you've seen or know someone its appreciated. Please post or email me tony919 at gmail.

Yes, it is sold.

I looked at it back near the end of October.

Not worth the money being asked. Would have been ok at about $4000.

Rear aluminum was two sheets riveted together sandwiching the rusting steel. Ambulance doors did not fit because of the thickness differences. Needed smaller rubber as it was not sprung over and the 35's rubbed even on the street. Seats needed replacement. Fenders and running boards needed replacement. Good hood and motor sounded good, no smoke. Rusty frame, but still ok (not broken and repairable). My take would be about $10k to aluminum tub and firewall it and make it an OK rig, $15K if you wanted to go for a frame up clean and repair. That is of course doing the vast majority of the work yourself.

I will keep my eye open for you. I'm also looking for another one (or two) for myself but we are looking in different price ranges. To be honest with you I doubt you will find anything worthwhile in a diesel in the price range you have. A gas unit, yes, but not a diesel. Particularly since you want something that can be used as a daily driver while you fix it up.

Having owned LC's continually since 1988, I have a lot of experience with them and in years gone by the prices were fair. It seems since about 2004 they have taken on a "cult" status and you see trucks I used to buy and sell in the $2.5K range (diesel) going for a minimum of $6k and up from there, needing total tub replacement and more. You can still find a decent gas pot for around $4K if you jump on it fast, but it will likely need at least a tub too.

Will keep you in mind when I see stuff.

Tony ....regarding that fj 40 ...I have a gem ...stored for 36 years...60,000 orig mi ...never seen a winter or not been shop stored ....shes stock all orig even front winshield no accidents ...Im retired and my wife wants it gone to travel ...but I need $17000 for it you will look a long time to find one nicer ....my phone no# ...in BC 250-367-6176
