Hey midwesters,
Saw a thread with a 20mm ammo can for an arm rest in a 60. Thinking about this cheap mod and the added space it will give me.
Do you guys know of a Army/Navy surplus store in these parts? Looking for anything between lake view and Park ridge.

thanks
Patrick

Make a stop in their shop on Lincoln. I was just in there and they had a few different sized ammo cans there for sale. There's also another surplus on Broadway north of Wilson on the east side of the street. I haven't ventured in there yet so I don't really know what they carry. Be careful though, it is the Land of Misfit Toys. I think a carnival train broke down there decades ago and nobody got back on the train.

I have an extra 60 series center console but the bottom of it is shot. You're welcome to it.

looking to replace my OEM console. THanks for the pics. walked over there this afternoon, but damn they close early. I always work later than 5 every day. I'm hoping this weekend i can get there on sat.
Hoping to get a bunch more storage and an arm rest.
Just got to figure out a cup holder situation for the ammo can and i'm golden

thanks again
Patrick

Patrick, before you get all that, I think you really need a nav system with monitors in your headrests and visors w/ a PS3, along with a kick-ass sound system, and then you can think about an armrest, console, and cup holders.

I was out at the Cliffs with Patrick and a few others last year and he glimpsed and commented on my 'pimped' ride coz it had nav lol. But no, a PS3 would really not find its way into my rig 'less my kids begged, and their only 2 n 3, so by then, they'd have a PS12, which would already come as a factory option.

I sport a dvd player in my trail rig..... Hell Ive even put an playstation in it so I can play grand theft auto while waiting for people to get unstuck, or waiting for whats left of gumbys rig to be pulled off the trail.:grinpimp:

But do you have a broken CD player that can predict vehicle performance?

I thought not.

:lol::lol:

That really was creepy!!!

the day you put the TBI on that truck the CD player said "failure" for about a year. then you put the carb back on and the cd player works fine. THEN you grenade your t-case and 10 ft down the trail the cd player reads "failure"!

That 81mm shell boxes looks interesting. Let me know how they look up close.

X2 next time you head out there let me know how much those are. maybe ill have ya pick one up:grinpimp:

Here's an inside look at the 81mm boxes

I'm trying to find these types of boxes which I remember using in the Air Force, which have rubber gaskets for waterproofing. Phil, did you happen to come across these?

Those 81mm boxes are pretty decent size and a couple should fit side by side in the rear of my 40. It shouldn't be a problem putting a locking mechanism on them. I'll stop in there on lunch and check the dimensions and price.

They had several types of ammo boxes there. I'll take a look and see if they have any that are water proof.
