Let me know if you got a good one that's been working for years, particularly through the winter when the water freezes on the top layer. My pond is rather small.

I bought a mag drive from 123ponds.com, Pondmaster MDI 1.9 - 190 gph and it seems to be well made. However, the spinning magnetic field inside the base unit is causing the rotor to make a shreaking sound. They sent me another rotor but it does the same thing too.

The previous one lasted for seven years and darn if I can see a make/model info on it.
 
I have used a few Flotec sprinkler pumps. They seem like really good products, haven't had a problem with them. I'm not sure what type of setup you have, but maybe Flotec has something that will work for you.
