Going to have a look at this pig over the weekend.
It is 100% identical to the one my old man used to own.

Went and had a look at this pig today.
In a dillemma about what to do
Buying a pig without rust is all but impossible, but this had more then I had hoped.
Seller is firm on price, and wont go below $3500.
Pros.
The exact year model im after.
has tailgate not barn doors which im not a fan of.
everything is there and works
original, no major mods.
owner is nice, has had for a long time, and has looked after it.
its relatively close to home.
its a carbon copy of my dads 55, right down to it has the same towbar!
Engine and box are nice and tight, brakes work and is mech very good.
Floors and mounts are rust free
interior is in excelent shape, except for loose seat stiching (owner fixed with duct tape)
chassis rust free
missus actually approves!!! (this is a biggie)

Cons
Has been repainted with a brush
rust in both front guards
Rust in tailgate corner
rust on windscreen frame corner
Bondo along gutter. could be hiding a moltitude of sins, but doesnt look as bad as ive seen.
some rust in doors
radiator is stuffed
hoses are all hard and brittle
has been sitting for 12 months un driven
Unregistered

I just dont know what to do. $3500 seems to be $1500 too much imho, but the guy wont budge. On the other hand im strugging to find any others for sale that are not completely destroyed by rust and previous owner mods....

any opnions are most welcome...

Have pics but its taking forever to upload atm. will try again later

That's not bad...I'd drive it.

Hey Dave, Looks like a nice piggy! I agree on the price. Looks to be more a 2-2.5K rig to me. I paid 3.5 for mine in all original condition. This one appears to have a few more options however. I'll give you a call when I get back in Canberra next week. I still haven't found parts for your 45 yet:(

No worries Aaron! Ill be away this weekend, but around anything after that
Yours for $3500 was a much much better buy then this one.
Im in very much two minds. The photos really make it look so much better then what it is.
By the time I pay $3500 for it, replace radiator, will need a clutch sooner then later and other things for rego theres another $1000 and then rego about $1000, ive spent $5500, and its still rusty and paint brush repainted!
The Mrs and I want to use it as a camping/tourer as we all cant fit in the 45.
I just thing I can get a lot more for my 3500....

Dave,

Found one on eBay - much cheaper, looks alright by the photos, but is missing a bit, seller said that it's been sitting for 8 years....

Auction has ended, but I'll try to upload pics for you.

It looks rough, but the $$ he started at, you could have a bargain, also found a couple of registered ones down here in Adelaide.

Wish I had the space to get it...

Bought a pig

Bought a pig today.. $900 delivered to my door. Rust in bottom of guards and small bit in tailgate only. No roof rust at all!!!!
Needs a tidy up, and I need to find some original front and rear bumpers, otherwise I cant wait until delivery next weekend. Funnily enough, on the way home from looking at it yesterday, past a pig on the road, and seen another one in somenes driveway - all about 20kms from my house!!!!!

Got the cruiser early sunday morning. Spent all day cleaning and bring her back up to driveable. Have tomorrow and wednesday off work so I can spend another 2 solid days on her.

Aaron, come out for a drive when ever you like!

pics to come tonight....

Been cleaning the pig a little. Took her for a maiden voyage today, along a couple of roads out the back of my house. Really happy with the way she drove. No Rattles, but a couple of flat spots under acceleration, also the fuel pump is leaking. Brakes are fine, and it handles well. It does have a noisey lifter, that will hopefully pick up with an oil change????
Next is to find oem type front and rear bumpers, and rego it
Tyres on the old grey spits are rotton, so ill run my sunraisers for now.
Anyone got any ideas on a radio? dont want to cut the hole to fit a din size radio in, and i have the original pocket to fit in the hole. thinking maybe putting it in the glovebox or similar.
