Locksmith book for the FJ60 locks?

Good evening everyone, my first post. We're officially the proud owners of an '83 FJ60. She's a solid driver but has a lot of little things to be fixed up. One of them is the locks. I've read a few threads here about either cleaning out the locks or replacing them, and we're going to try to clean out the hatch lock first since that's the only one which is completely frozen. I seem to recall seeing a locksmith book for the FJ60, either here or on Ebay, but now I can't find it. Does anyone know where I can get that book? The threads I've read were helpful about disassembling the lock cylinder then soaking in solvent, but I'd sure like some exploded diagrams before I start taking things apart. Welcome! When I bought my truck, it had 2 keys for the iginition and doors and wanted that fixed. The quotes I got locally were laughable at best, including the most extreme case of $250 per wafer to rekey the lock.....

I went with @ToyotaMatt who posted above and got a NOS ignition lock cylinder to match my doors and he knows his stuff. He can definitely help you get sorted.

Ditto on the above comment. @ToyotaMatt has come through for the very small stuff needed. he fixed a rear lock cylinder for me back when I had my previous fj60.

I would like to see if I can get the back hatch lock freed up and functional before I spend the $$ to simply replace it. Granted, the day may come when I just order a complete set of replacements, but I'd rather save that money for other fixit items at the moment. Would that Basic Toyota Lock Servicing book show me how to take that hatch lock apart and at least get it cleaned out? Also, how do I buy the book? I went to your website and didn't see the book itself listed.

the FJ60 and FJ62 Rear push button locks are NON / NOT serviceable in any way shape or form ..........

if yours is broken rusty or otherwise faulty

u can take it apart by force bout you ain't getting back together


i tried many years and failed each time

NO service parts were ever offered aftermarket or by TOYOTA globally



i have Pre-owned ones with a working key if that is a option ?


lastly , all the availvle other 4 locks service parts are NLA / DISC , i live on a life time of HORDING the small NOS i can accumulate in my travels

- one noteworthy note : i do not Repair or re-key old pre owned ignition locks its a SAFTEY risk i don't subscribe to as many clients and MUD buddies have there adult children wives husbands and well them drive a hung up ign lock is a risk i will not take


i am well stocked in all other NOS 62 and 60 locks

i have a japan NipponDenso SST code cutting machine too 2021 modle global software package there is NO TOYOTA oem edge cut style key i cant cut


NO : i cant obtain a keyt code for a vin # , so please dont ask
