Ok this is a far fetched question but could I install Locking Hubs on my Stock 1979 Toyota FJ40 axles?. I saw this once on a Jheep, and though it would be cool for towing my rig without disconecting my rear drive line. I welcome your responces and bitch slaps for posting Jheep in a Cruizer Land.

You can install rear locking hubs if you convert over to a full float rear.

yeppers...full float axles....

And, personally, I'm not positive the lockouts would last too long in a rear axle situation...I've blown a couple on the front axle, and rear generally takes more abuse.

I heard the Warn kit was discontinued. If you find a new source, please post.

If you manage to get a FF setup, I agree with Woody about the extra strain on the rear not helping them last as long. You definitely wouldn't want to use Milemarker, AVM or Selectro hubs. Stick with ASCO and carry a pair of driveplates just in case.

I still don't understand why people disconnect the rear DL on a cruiser

Hi all.
I have the Warn FF rear on mine, Ive had it for about 7 years, It uses Dana 60 hubs. I dont recall the spline cound though...Sorry
Good luck

That would be 30 spline.

Good luck!

Front Range Offroad had their prototype at Moab EJS this year. It looked like a good product. It even uses Toyota parts. That means rear disc brakes and the option of either locking hubs or drive plates. They are so busy making them for the toy-minis that they haven't taken the time to finish the production of the TLC units. If people started calling them on these I'll bet that would light a fire under their butts. ;)

I would reccomend doing the additional dowel mod to the Asin hubs that Airride does n the pirate board.

With people shearing off the hub studs in the front the rear will easily be killed..

And here I just thought you were just overly defensive being the only buggy still running a 6 banger!

How's the wife?

Right now FROR is trying to get tooled up to make the axles. They haven't found anyone to build the long side.
I pester them every couple of months. You interested parties should do likewise. My contact there is Brian. Here is the link to their site. It doesn't mention any Land Cruiser stuff that I can recall: http://www.frontrangeoffroadfab.com/products.htm
