Alex and I had a conversation about a place to meet. I can offer up two places in Harrisonville (about 20 min south of KC on US71) We have a new community center, large rooms or the more rustic North Park activity center(Morton building) where the Shriners currently meet. Both have great parking, decent restrooms, heat and A/C and I think they are like $50, either one. There are caterers around or with a little local help, I'd do BBQ.
Not the most desirable location maybe. Closer for the Wichita guys....dunno.

Ed would you or Alex look into getting a meeting room at the community center for Jan 12 or 26 (these are the only days I have open in Jan). Osage city would have been nice but I’d like to get as many people to come as we can… Harrisonville is close enough that the kc crowd has no excuse. ;p We may even get to see some the Columbia and st Louis crew…:bounce:
Ed, Mike c: would you still be willing to feed us? We could make this a potluck and bring sides…?
Any objections speak now…

I just talked with the Park Director and he has a room that will easily accomodate 75+ people AND we get use of a complete kitchen, no caterer required;)
Can do brisket and/or pork butts and have bread/buns/sauce. If someone wants to do sides, beans, slaw or whatever, that would help out.
You can't have (obvious) alcohol without a caterer who has a liquor license, but there is kind of a "look the other way" policy. Just no kegs sitting in the middle of the floor;)
I think we'll get a little press coverage, at least a pic, so any of you in the Federal Witness Protection Program.....wear your Wayfarers:cool:

I'll check on those dates.

BTW there is a $15/hr charge on the facility, but if that is a problem I can cover that. Do we have funds set aside for this gig?

Looks like we are a go for the 26th of January, 2008 12:00 Noon to 5:00pm at the Harrisonville Community Center.
About food, we are going to have Brisket and pulled pork, but the rest is going to be pot luck. So, if you have a favorite dish you want to bring, just let me know or let Mike Costello know what you are going to bring.

Who's Bringing What????

Will everyone post up what they are bringing to the meeting in the way of side dishes? This will make it a lot easier for the cooks to fig'er things out. Guess it doesn't really matter, after all it is a Pot Luck, but just for grins.
Club will provide meat, bread/buns, table ware...plates/napkins/cups/ice.

Post away..........................

What kind of an oven is at the community center?

Dunno, but it is referred to as a "serving kitchen." I'll check and report back. What do you wanna cook?
