Title says it all. The few of us who are somewhat actively looking for a venue for our meeting haven't been successful yet.

Here's what we need:

  • Seating for 70.
  • Central location in KC is preferred.
  • Saturday afternoon availability.
  • The club has funds available for a rental location (within reason so contact an officer before committing to something like this).
Here's what we don't need:
  • Food, necessarily. The last location didn't offer an opt-out on the buffet - didn't know/realize that until the day of and I once again offer my apologies.
We've had our annual meeting early in the season so we could discuss potential wheeling dates. By our by-laws we have the annual meeting to handle officer elections. Seating for 20 used to be sufficient, now it would be a fire hazard (which is fantastic, btw!).

Post up your thoughts/ideas. Nothing is sacred here, so out of the box thinking is encouraged.

Sounds like we need a Community Center in one of the surrounding smaller cities. Usually a small rent fee, then people can find food after. Cabela's meeting rooms are pretty small. What about the Holidome in Olathe? Any metal shop buildings? I'll volunteer my mom's place outside of Lawrence if need be. Sorry, I'll stop channeling through my fingers.

The problem seems to be that it's in the hight of college basketball season, which tends to rule out any place with tvs.

osage city...very large community building...i think 25.00 refundable deposit all the tables and chairs you would need.....also several eating places in town......just a thought...not too far for the wichita guys and not bad for the kc guys either...kinda central

Chris,
Call Pappi's Pizza in Lee's summit 816 524 2100. Plenty of room, they will accept reservations for meeting, excellent food, no charge for facilities.

Pappi's? that place is a little rough around the edges:skull: but dang tasty

Alex and I had a conversation about a place to meet. I can offer up two places in Harrisonville (about 20 min south of KC on US71) We have a new community center, large rooms or the more rustic North Park activity center(Morton building) where the Shriners currently meet. Both have great parking, decent restrooms, heat and A/C and I think they are like $50, either one. There are caterers around or with a little local help, I'd do BBQ.
Not the most desirable location maybe. Closer for the Wichita guys....dunno.

I can help with the Q. as far as the drive.... we're used to it, so whatever works.

If it makes any difference, the Community center is all set up for powerpoint and Pa system, all parking on pavement. I'll have to check if we can cook or you need a caterer's license.....but the Park Board Prez is coming over for dinner tonight;)
Alcohol would have to be in the form of a Baptist Beer (in a paper cup) for those wishing to imbibe.

I don't think we'll make it this year. Jus too much going on with my Mom & Dad. I have hope that he will be able to walk again by then. But we may have to install hand rails in their house. Just do not know what the future will be.
