Short answer: anything's possible...

Long answer: Do you have a line on a prado axle? I don't know if there is a benefit to using it. But I do know that the mini truck/4Runner front axle has some of the most extensive after market support of any axle out there. If there's no up side to using one (I've never heard anything good or back, probably because we never saw them in the states) I would not go for it, the 8 inch SAS has been perfected pretty much...

I think it's 8" Reverse rotation, like Fj80?

If I had a line on a 70 front axle I'd want rest to go with it! :D

From Canada, eh?

locations help us out.

Get the spring perch width post it up and someone will tell you if its a Fab or direct bolt on. Then we'll see just how different the housings are (mini/ 70).
Only thing I know off the top is steering (tie rod locations?) but if the 70's can do it so could an SAS.

the lj70 is the light duty cruiser, the bj and hzj 70s share a front axle with the 80 and I am thinking that the light duty 70s have the same front axle as the hiluxes. A benefit I am thinking of is that they are a coil sprung set up with control arms as opposed to leafs.

Well if they are wider and you can get one cheap I'd say yeah. Chances are even it it's setup with coil buckets etc. already, you will probably still have to change them or atleast move them, because I seriously doubt you will really want to utilize the stock link mounts etc if you are going to take the time to make the axle work.

70 series with a 3B/13BT engine and earlier 70 series with the HZ engines should be leaf sprung, 9.5"LP diffs with the smaller, mini truck sized knuckles & birfs. Later 70 series with the HZ should have the 8" HP, larger knuckles and birfs and coil sprung similar to the 80 series.
