Very slow drying, used by artists and such, for cars and equipment its hard to beat enamel. Just use a hvlp gun,

I have used boiled linseed oil +paint thinner + Japan Drier (from art store) as cheap rust proofing when Ipatched my brother's rusted out Volvo floor. Used siphon air sprayer. Japan Drier made a real difference in dry time.

I also have a "test" piece sitting outside day and night. I painted my rain water barrel stand with one coat rust oleum and two more boiled linseed +Japan drier. Finish is a bit strange but no rust after 6 years.
