I have a desert sand HDJ81; thinking about doing the lower rockers / flares; black is possible, other suggestions as to colour / pics? I've searched, no luck, no answers in the paint forum; photoshopped or actual pics would be appreciated. I was thinking about dark brown or grey. Is LineX worth the extra $? If this is not tech enough, I apologize. :)

I love the look of black and the interior does use black, dark brown and the desert sand, my only concern is that black always looks dirty!

I just did mine. My LX is green, though, so no help here on colors.

I checked out both Rhino and LineX. The Rhino material didn't look as nice as the LineX, and was very "rubbery". I did LineX in a custom color and am very pleased with it.

HTH :)

Quick photoshop job but its black and tan...

Partial thread-jack: can you please post pix? Incl c/u pictures? Mine is green, too, and I'm really considering flareless and coated. Not sure on the liner I want to use at this point, but I'm leaning toward Line-X...

I have the same color rig, I think it's beige metallic or something close to that. I recently deflared and did mine with Durabak "sand" color. I think it turned out pretty good. I was looking for something other than black. I'll try to get a pic asap so you can see it. Durabak will send you a litle sample piece to hold up against your rig.

Here she is...A gallon of the colored stuff from Durabak was around $120 w/ shipping.

Here is my rig with black line-x. Not quite the same color but beige none the less. Hope this helps.

I had my flares removed (long story). I did the LineX in Moonglow Pearl (1A6, IIRC). Its a little lighter than the stock LX trim, but I've come to like it a lot.

I removed the bumpers & sliders before I took it in to them. No way I'd trust them to correctly re-install & re-torque everything correctly.

I'll get some pics over the weekend and get them posted up.

Trapper, i'm sorry, i had forgot who's rig i your's was that i drooled over at URE.

Martin, his rig is really nice and professional. Actually nice enough for me to completely rethink how much i like my durabak. I may get another layer all the way up on the side like Beno's rig, but have it professionally done.

No worries man. :) I had a great time that weekend. That reminds me, I have some good video of you smoking some tires up Kodak.

Thanks for all the responses. I'm not really fond of the slightly darker (whatever colour brown that is?), NO OFFENSE intended. Black looks awesome, but I was wondering if anyone had done dark brown or gray and had a pic with the tan / brown, or any other colour?

Sorry Motoloco, just saw your post. Thanks. I love this truck...I got the wheels from NickW after he rolled his HDJ81. They are stock backspaced as far as I can tell, but I don't know the brand. I believe they are from the JDM aftermarket, but they look to be extremely high quality and have been flawless since I got them. Maybe Nick knows, but I never thought to ask him.

I went to a linex dealer yesterday and he said he wouldn't spray the plastic fenders. Has anyone had any problems with the linex not sticking to the flares?
