Limmer boots, which ones should I get? (1 Viewer)

What is the logic behind that? I tried a pair of light weights on and really liked them, but I'm worried that no insole will end up beinf uncomfortable on long hikes. My Vasque Sundowners are similar to the light weights in heft and style but even with a modest insole they can feel too hard if not on dirt.

These boots are old school. Most boots used to be insole-less. Ive used the lightweights and midweights for hours and no problems. They've been to 8000+
feet a few times.

I wish I had seen this thread earlier. I own two pair of Limmer Ultralights, two pair of Limmer Lightweights, and two pair of Limmer Midweights.

I bought them at Alabama Outdoors. Every Late January they have a sale. Nearly 50% off.

I hike ALLOT in the Washington Cascades every summer. Of all the boots Id say the LightWeights are probably the best all around boot Ive ever had.

The problem is that Limmer is close to banckrupsy. The Alabama Outdoors people were told by Limmer that they will no longer be selling boots through retailers. Its either that or banckrupsy they were told. So, no more sale on Limmer boots every January.

The off the shelf Limmers are made in Germany by Meindl. I was told by a cobler here in Seattle NOT to buy the hand made Limmers! I was told that the off the shelf Limmers are better made than the custom boots!

The Mid Weights do take a long time to break in. The mid's and Ultras take ZERO break in. The Ultras are also awesome boots. You can almost run in the damn things they are so light. The quality is increadible.

Hope this helps.

Tom

It's a little upsetting to read stuff like what was posted here. Limmer Boot Inc is not and has never been close to bankruptcy. About 12 years ago, we made a decision to stop selling thru outfitters. The main reason for that was simply that none of the dealers were giving what we thought was the proper level of attention to doing proper fittings. We went back to what we had done for decades. Direct sales to our customers and a high level of personal attention to every pair of boots we sell. You can purchase them at 1 dealer and that is Peter Limmer and Sons in Intervale NH. It's the only boot they sell other than the Custom models that they produce in house. I welcome any and all who are interested in our products to give me a call at 603.694.2268 or my direct line at 603.986.8435. We're alive and well and nowhere near bankruptcy.

As a side note, the Ultralight has been discontinued and is no longer available.

Thanks,

Ken Smith,
Limmer Boot Inc

Wow, I'm impressed you were able to find this seven year old thread with pinpoint accuracy to address that post. I'm at a loss for words, but glad all is well with the Limmer boot business.
