Lift kits on a budget

I've got stock springs with no lift, but I know lots of people who have all sorts of lifts on their cruisers. I have wheeled in them and even installed some of them. But, I would hate to appear as a 'poser' to some on this board by giving an opinion on something that I do not run myself. That said, I'll give my opinion anyway. For $455, Downey makes a kit that flexes well and rides decent. Another buddy did a soa without cutting and turning and his rig rides great and he didn't spend much at all. As for Skyjacker, I've heard great things about them but have no experience myself with them, so I won't go there.

I have got Skyjacker, I love it. If I were going to stay SUA indefinatly I would invest in a set of Alcans which are sure to please. My set of Skyjackers are an intermediate set up to hold me over while I bring the rest of the truck up to speed before attempting an SOA which I aim to do properly the first time.

No offense to anyone here,

This only one experience with one vehicle and i am sure that it cannot happen to everyone.

Buddy has two sets of custom alcan front springs for his mini, BOTH sets are flat as a board. nice set of 5" lift and other 6" lift too start, ha ha. very very little time on the sets, just not good springs.

Problems like this leave a bad taste with the owner and others around him about the said spring maker, and will continue to trickle to others that are told.

to each his own.

Was waiting for someone to ring in on these...

Put two sets of five inch in solid axle swap 87 and 88 4runners,
both have sagged out flat in less than a year and a half. No tops on either truck, and no real "hard-core" abuse/use, simply sagged out...oh well.

Just goes to show that nothing is perfect, everybody has "witnessed" bad things about every suspension out there. And with that being said, the only thing I've heard bad about ome is being too bouncy, which sounds more like a shock issue more than springs. Outside of my budget? Yes it is, I have about $500 a month to play with if I keep the other spending down, beer and bullets etc, but save for a few months and there I go, I have the extra money I can spend on the springs I want. It's all a matter of priorities.

:DIt also helps to have a sweet little girl from Denmark living with you that is really good with money and that loves you to death. :flipoff2:
