Im planning on giving my 86 4runner a bodylift im think'n about about 3" and my question is will i have to extend anything like shifter's,steering, filler neck....Ect:confused: and i know alot of you will say that a suspension lift is better but i dont have the cash 4 that yet  any info will be appreciated thanks guys

Talk to Roger at 4Crawler Offroad Products, he's the man on body lifts for 4Runners.

Ya a 3" is pretty extreme, you're gonna have to change a lot of stuff. Your bumpers are gonna look pretty funny if you don't fix them.

thanks for the input, now that you mention it 3" is pretty high:bang:
suspension lift would be better,:D
is there a how to on doing a suspension lift?

lotsa info on lifting trucks here on mud. in fact there is so much one would have a hard time point out where to even start. check out All-Pro Off Road

err scratch that check those guys out later there web site blows monkey balls right now. take a look at marlin crawler. Marlin Crawler, Inc.

I personally have a 3 inch body lift on my truck and you don't have to change an incredible amount of stuff. you gotta stretch the steering linkage a little and you have to re rout a few cables and such. and like was said do something about the bumpers. Personally im eventually going to take as much out of my body lift as possible while keeping my drive train above the frame. Ill hope for a 1 inch lift in the body and settle for 1 1/2.

Lotta people knock body lifts because its a real band aid solution that doesn't really allow you to do anything more than cram bigger tires into a stock suspension. But I actually believe that its a good thing for some people who'r just getting into modifying there truck for off road. Gets you around needing a set of rock sliders more or less. and its an easy thing to remove if you find its not for you.

But if you intend to do anything substantial with the vehicle you should think of it as a temporary thing.
as later down the line your probably going to want the ideal super flexy low center of gravity suspension system anyway.

Downey has a most respectably priced 3" lift that has done me right. A couple of years flexing around and no issues. Great stuff for those not wishing to modify everything else to get their lift working properly. Plug and play!

Two cents worth! Bob
