We just bought a 2017 and that was basically the one feature we wished it had. This should make retrofit pretty straightforward, no? I was planning to look into it with LX570 parts, but no need now. Yea you can do the soft open tail gate. That's just a mechanical hinge add-on that others have started doing. But the power hatch is probably a no-go for adding on. Thinking about the missing items of wire harness, motor, power, keyless entry modules/remotes, programming...
Although it might not be impossible- they've been offering it overseas on the LC for a few years now.

Any parts for the power hatch though should be in the diagrams for recent years on the non-US versions.
