I'm getting a new trailer which is considerably heavier than the tear drop 1800 lbs to 6200 lbs. ChatGPT tells me that this would put in question the safety of the setup that I have now by lowering not only my towing capacity due to the 9" extension but also the tongue weight with all the weight I have. I currently have a Dissent Offroad modular hitch that just fits inside my OEM 2" receiver and sticks out about 9". It has another 2" hole to add the tow receiver. Can anyone recommend one way or another on the TCC, Arb, or Dissent Offroad bumper that uses the factory tow pkg? I want the least amount of headaches for install and wiring. TIA.

The dissent rear bumper leaves full usability of the OEM hitch with a very convenient relo of the trailer wiring harness. If you follow the instructions linuxgod posted and make your own wiring harness you can leave the factory setup totally unmolested without tapping any existing wires for the bumper lights. The bumper is easy enough to install but the wiring harness was hard for me and took me a long time but I did get it to work on the first try and it has been running strong for a couple years. There is a long thread on the dissent install and here is the diagram from linuxgod. The only downside of the dissent is that it is a little hard to use a locking hitch pin so I had to cut my key to make it smaller and have to get on my back under the vehicle to lock and unlock the pin. This is also not the cheapest bumper....

I run a dissent rear and tow a ~6100lb dry weight trailer all over the mountains of Alberta and BC. No problems.

The fitting of the spare tire mount allows a 35" spare to avoid the tongue jack on my trailer. With swingouts opening fully while attached (for access while hitched up). I am using a very common weight distribution hitch, but will upgrade to a propride 3p this season. Wiring was a bit of a pain, but I only did that once.

I am sure other bumpers that use the factory hitch will tow fine also.

Recommended mods:
-big brakes (I have a 2013, so upgraded to 2016+ fronts)
-Gears, 4.3 (only if running bigger tires, but they also help with towing)
-Tow mirrors or extensions

Thanks mate! We are working on wiring diagrams which should make things easier. :)
