I'm working on a drivetrain swap for my 80, and my plan is to put a full 100 series drivetrain (2UZ, A343f/A750f, accompanying tcase) in place of the factory drivetrain. In addition to overland camping, I plan on using the rig for long highway trips all over the country, so I really don't wanna deal with the 80mph downhill with tailwind top speed of my stock 80 series, and I wanted to ask the LC100 owners about your experience with your drivetrains. I also will likely be using this rig for towing camping gear, offroad toys, and the occasional project car, so towing ability is another factor to consider.

Is just the addition of the 2UZ's extra power enough to get rid of the 80's highway driving difficulties (especially on hills), or do the A343f equipped LC100s still struggle with that?
And for anyone with experience with both, is the A750f's 5 speed design consequential enough to warrant the added difficulty of install? Or does the 2UZ + A343f remedy this issue well enough that I don't need the 5 speed? (Keep in mind the A750f would require significant custom fab work for a crossmember and shifter mounting in the 80 body, as well as more wiring difficulty. I'm not against this route if it's worth it, however.)

It's all relative. My 100 is better than my 80 was for the things you're talking about, but still by no means flies up hills etc. easily. When purchasing a 100 many opt for the 03+ for the 5 speed and wider gear range. Each improves on the prior.

You can always supercharge it if it ends up not being fast enough for you.
