Been lurking for a month or so and drooling over LC 100s, after regrettably purchasing a Montero :whoops:. Decided to get what I really wanted a quit wasting time so I jumped on 2001 recently listed in the classifieds (anyone looking for a 2006 Montero let me know). Going to make an adventure out of the trip next week and looking forward to getting it down south.
There are some service records available, but also uncertainties on the age of the timing belt, which leads me to believe other services are due.
I am looking for your advice on someone I can take it to to get a thorough inspection and some honest suggestions on services needed. I am in Meridian, but am hesitant to take it to local Toyota dealership as I have heard some complaints. I called and asked them for a ballpark estimate on timing belt replacements and the service guy I spoke with asked me if it was 4wd
. That definitely didn't boost my confidence.
Willing to travel to the Jackson area and would love an opportunity to meet up with some Cruiser enthusiasts to help me diagnose the maintenance needs and start the build.
