I took a 100% stock truck to SnT in 2004 and the offroad bug bit me. No need to share pics of the truck as she sits now. It's perfect for me.
After my heart attack in 2009 I purchased a nice CDN M101 so I wouldn't have to hoist gear up on my INTI rack. Ever since that purchase and lid built for it, I've wanted a RTT. Obvious choice was one designed for a trailer!

After keeping an eye out for an Eezi-Awn Globetrotter for the past couple of years, and losing out on one to a higher bidder this past May, I found one in Atlanta, GA. Smittycrusher was kind enough to check out the condition of the tent for me. Local guy wanted the trailer and I wanted the tent. Trailer buyer has been great to work with as well and works for a company that ships food processing equipment so he's enlisted his shipping department to crate/ship this big tent at their negotiated rates! He picked up everything yesterday. Here are some pics of it being crated.

Should be here in a week or so.

Nice, glad it finally worked out for you Brent!

Crate above is now soundly resting in my garage! Will uncrate it this afternoon or tomorrow with help of my son and perhaps get he and my bil to lift it onto the trailer. Beyond that, I won't be able to do a damn thing with it for a little while, and that'll be very hard on me, probably worse than the physical therapy I'll be going thru!

Great! I wish I was shipped out to California with it. I hope the recovery is going awesome. I can't wait to see it again in person.

Much to my wife's displeasure, I took the top and ends of the crate off this afternoon. I was cleared to use a cane only. Can you say release the hounds! Still have the sides an then will get muscle to put the tent on the trailer I will not try that, even just helping just yet!

Nice! Glad you got what you wanted. Get better soon buddy!

Awesome Brent....

Get better my friend!

Thanks Onur! Tent was delivered last Saturday, and all I've been able to do is slowly take the crate apart. It's been sitting on the garage floor on its pallet since then. Killing me! Got four guys available to easily hoist it onto the trailer tomorrow afternoon so I can at least secure it myself. No way I'm one of the four lifting yet. Making great recovery progress as well.

Don't go overboard man. Get help and let them take care of it! :)

Got the tent up on the trailer. Still need to tighten the brackets.

Concerned that the tent platform sits 62" off the ground. I think that's going to be too tall w/o adding more to the annex.

Options?

I could go drastic and go back to spring under. Ryan? You are still running this set up with 33's aren't you?

I could ditch the whole Thule bar set up and just have cross bars bolted directly to the trailer lid. That'd drop the tent about 3".

It appears that the springs under the trailer have a bracket that adds about 1-2" to the height as well.

Won't do anything until I can pull the trailer out of the garage and open the tent to check everything out.

I would vote for lowering the trailer a bit. I sat high before and with the ton I added weight up high you may run into other issues. Perhaps new springs that provide somewhat of a lower stance but with more travel? Just random thoughts.

I know what you mean. High center just like the cruiser! Good wide stance helps, but tip overs and a real good gust of wind under the tent could create issues. Maybe a good test run up to my trailer guy to get his thoughts on potential solutions. Back to a spring under is real option, but would require a good rework of the fenders.

Crap sorry for all of the typos I had in the earlier post. Damn iphone spell check. Anyhow, you got the point. Good luck and can't wait to see some photos of the new setup.

Yeah I'm still running Spring under. Haven't had any issues and I'm sure you won't since your fenders actually clear your tires. how much less height do you need? I saw this idea on portal a few years back that might let you just mount it straight to the lid without drilling anymore holes.

Or maybe consider replacing the spring pack with something else. The million leaf military spring setup is pretty stiff and probably attributed to my airtime in DV. Not sure what amount of height you need but that might also be a good solution without going SUA.

Edit: For some reason I thought that guy fabricated those brackets but its actually a Front runner product. No sure about the availability I couldn't find the brackets on Front Runner's site but I did find it @ Sierra Expeditions >here< Not that it wouldn't be easy to just fab it yourself but If I can find it already made thats less work for me :D Might actually consider getting some for when the tent eventually goes back on my trailer.

Thanks for the idea Ryan. I'll wait to see exactly how much I'll need when I actually deploy the tent and put the annex on for the first time. Probably won't do that for several weeks still. I'm sitting at 62" from ground now to the tent platform, so i think I'll need at least 2-3" at minimum based on all the info regarding max height info on the tent. That could happen with those brackets you mentioned. The Thule bar risers are about 4" total.

edit - took another look at the last pic you posted - i don't think these will work. Looks like they are designed to use the front/rear channels and the Thule channels on the trailer. The Globetrotter is to large for these to work on either the front/rear channels or even the channels on the sides.

Congrats on the tent purchase Brent, I am jealous!

Don't over do anything physical and get yourself healthy. Besides, you know how much you love research!
