Thought for a new thread...

Since several people here on Mud have had issues recently trying to establish the value of their LandCruisers. I thought the members of this site could build a good resource of similar vehicles sales by posting For Sale ads on Mud.

We should post copies of Craigslist, Ebay and other For Sale ads and final sale prices for LandCruisers. When the sales are over, the ads disappear, posting copies here would give a historical record of prices for situations like these.

Maybe even make this a sticky? One for each Series here on Mud - 40/45's, 55, 60/62's, 80's, etc.

Any thoughts on this?

So I've been actively searching for a 60/62 series.

I found a few in the San Jose area, all in fair condition with asking prices of $7500, $6,000 and $5,700.

Toyota Land Cruiser
205K miles, 1985, exterior looks decent, no pics of interior. Asking $5700

1985 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ60 - $6000 OBO
189K miles, 1985, faded paint on hood and shows signs of wear, interior poor. asking $6,000

1989 Toyota Land Cruiser**** LOW MILES*** 7498 obo
190K miles, 1989, paint is a little dull but not clear coat still there, no interior pics. asking $7500

Lots of trucks on CL in the Los Angeles area...

You can add my truck to that list, although I haven't been able to get it cleaned up and ready to sell with the new school year having just started and all. Link in my signature line.

I'll contribute one (not my car).

I am selling my white Toyota Landcruiser with 148,000 miles on it. It has been a great car, but I am moving and looking for something automatic. It is a 4 speed manual transmission with 4wd. Very clean with a recently restored interior. There is some slight rust and two minor dings on the hood and side door, along with a missing reflector plate. Besides that, this car is in great shape. It already been smogged and is good for about another year. I am the 4th owner and it has never been in an accident. Asking $9,500. These cars are becoming collectors and this one won't be up for sale for too long!

Hey guys, great work here - this thread is a good idea and I can see it helping out many people with future insurance problems or issues on claims, it may also help to establish value as there is nothing similar other than NADA that has a compiled list of info from the auctions and the dmv. I have some suggestions. Should we talk to a Mod or Administrator to possibly have different threads for different series so they can be looked up and referenced easily? We might want to keep the grey market stuff in a separate area all together as it really has a different value RHD - etc, than the trucks that are made for America? If we are going to make a holy grail or master reference of Cruiser values how could it be organized? Would it warrant a sticky, or its own section entirely so we can have sub threads under different series? These are just some suggestions. We might also want to consider that randomly posting Craigslist ads in the insurance value threads will only duplicate information already on other areas of the site, and clog up the value thread. I don't have a problem volunteering to help compile a spread sheet of different years, models, equipment, etc.. to include verifiable documentation. We would just need a way to establish what is going to be a standard verifiable document package, and a way to hide the documents from public view in case some do not want to disclose what they paid or what they sold a particular vehicle for. I can foresee that this might be a problem for some, as the market may be falsely inflated by those trying to actively sell Cruisers on a regular basis. These hidden values could be forwarded to an adjuster on a case by case basis as requested. But how do we prevent that forwarded information from being distributed, basically circumventing the reason it was hidden to begin with? Many questions, but maybe we can start getting some answers.

We'll never know the final selling prices for any of these.
Final selling price has historically been, for the most part, a secret since the model T.

There is no way to know what any used car was sold for unless the buyer "honestly" reveals what he paid for it, or the seller does the same. That's not going to happen.

MUD is continuously slurped by Google 24/7 et al and all MUD's pages are easily found via web search engines. No forum threads are private.

Personally, I think how this thread is developing seems fine. Actual pics, and the genuine verbiage that describes the sale.
Doing it this way lends itself to a certain degree of credibility, which may be lacking in an endlessly scrolling spreadsheet of tedious numbers.

Anyway, that's what I'm thinking at the moment.
But sure, there are always better ways to do things, and enthusiasm is great.

This is not Tech...and the existing MUD Classifieds section already has a 60s area,...just needs someone to make a table and take the time to track not all...a sticki in that classifieds area makes 1000% more sense, with ONE person updating the table.

Here are a few from SoCal. Prices are a going up.
