Hi guys-

I bought Dirty Joe Rice's beautiful 1988 FJ62 for my son on Friday night. It's in great shape and I was really happy to buy it from someone here on the board who is IMO a really great guy. Joe kept meticulous records and maintained the truck well. The body of this truck is exceptionally straight and after removing the bull bar for some priming and painting you would never know this rig is 22 years old. I'll post pics asap but quite honestly I'm buried and write this post while working another Sunday so it may be a while. :crybaby:

One item on this rig that needs immediate attention is the throttle cable. Can you guys point me in the right direction for OEM or quality replacement parts for OE?

I feel like the luckiest Dad on earth today after getting a big hug from my son this morning before leaving for work. He loves his truck and was camped out in the back of the rig just relaxing and admiring his handy work after spending some 8 hours on Saturday detailing it. I can't wait to load up both his rig and mine and head for Anza Borrego. :D

What he said, American Toyota in vendors section, cruiserdan is his mud ID and Mondays are his busiest day, not that others are not busy, but his knowledge of wagons is amazing.

Congrats on the purchase Scott.

CDAN for parts.

Thanks Dave, CDAN ?? VVVVV
Got it. ;)

Thanks for the clarification, Dave just figured I should know who CDAN is, now I will. :D

Congrats on the purchase!

Thanks Jesse! I'm heading to bed, Garrett is asleep in the back of the Cruiser. :D

Congrats Scott. Even as an FJ Cruiser guy, we all just figure anyone in the cruiser community that needs parts KNOWS CDAN! :flipoff2:

So the biq question, will both you and Garret be showing up for SnT in your separate wagons?

Yeah, yeah I was waiting for this comment, been buying my OEM FJC stuff from TRD Parts in Dallas, smoking prices. I'll be calling Dan this morning.

We'll see. Reality will set in soon when I get the insurance bill for an 18 year old male and he asks for the money to fill a 23 gallon tank. :crybaby:

You'll need to work 8 days a week Scott! Here's to hoping he has a clean driving record and good grades!!! It helps a lot!

Customer Service American Toyota

5 phone calls, 2 hang ups, 2 transfer/disconnects, 1 voice mail left with Dan.... In my world if we treated our customers like that we would be out of business in a heart beat. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and blame it on great prices or no competition? ;)

Mondays are his busy days, he will get back to you..............trust us, you dont get his rep by screwing people. If your hard up, Spectors membership prices are the same as Dans BUT Spectors shipping and handling are brutal.
I always compared them before I bought parts.
Dan has 10-20 guys every Monday doing exactly what you are doing plus he runs the service and parts dept. Plus non cruiser parts, his volume is un-believable for OEM cruiser parts, SOR is close, they are a OEM dealer, I have no idea how Marv worked that out.

You warned me about Mondays but jeez I actually worked hard just to leave a message.

Spector had a used setup for $40.00 ( don't wanted used, I already have that) $97.00 for new and 1-8 weeks turnaround. Hope to hear from Dan this week.

P.S. Anyone tried graphite with successful results on an old acc. cable? Works great on bikes but they don't have the heat exposures this cable and housing do.

Why fool with a throttle cable, but you can try to rotate the cable to get the wear points moved.

Good idea, I'll try that. As for fooling with it you're right but if I can't get a cable in 3-4 weeks I just thought a touch of graphite might help out til' the new cable and housing come in.

Thanks for your input, I appreciate it.

Baby jebus, im glad im not 18 anymore.

Dan is a busy guy, if i need my part quick i get it locally. If not, i wait... and yeah Scott... if i ran my business like that i wouldn't have one either. My customers will go somewhere else. I totally agree dude. Problem is, to get the sweet deal we have to go through him and him only.. so we have to wait for whoever is getting a deal ahead of us i guess.

$2,244.00 or $187.00 a month for 100/300k liability and collision. :crybaby:

Accelerator cable ordered from Dan, about $25.00 less than anywhere else. :)

Also check with Cabe Toyota in Long Beach. There prices are exactly the same as CDAN's (+ local tax) but no shipping charges so it typically evens out at the end. If i know what i want/need i use Cabe, if it takes some research or knowledge, i trust/use CDAN.

Yeah the insurance is crazy expensive but I expected worse so that is the only positive. I have a 16 yr. old who is next...

BTW who is your "local" choice?

Thanks for the info, anyone special to ask for at Cabe?

Try toyota of san bernardino online.. they are usually same or cheeper than cdan.. for one or two things..(shipping vs. taxes)

If you are ordering anthing out of the ordinary call cdan and wait its worth it.. He can get stuff most people have no idea what the part number even is..and he will know it off the top of his head...
