With the 4.6L V8, steel wheels (in the correct size), no nav (vent mount = problem solved), and no third row seat (I would remove it anyway). A lot of other details too, cloth interior, no running boards, etc.

I actually really like the silver interior and one piece steering wheel design.

Of course, the flip side is much more expensive fuel and vehicle taxes than the U.S.

You can click through the "Price and Grades" menu to see the different styles.

(Google translate can get errors trying to render the page, but Bing translate works)

Fun site to explore. Cute videos too. Trim choices, transmission/engine choices, color choices, options. Wow.

Some really nice factory options:

It starts out fun. It then quickly becomes upsetting to see all the available trims, options and accessories available in all the other markets.

Yeah - this is why it isn't a good idea to visit strip clubs either.....

And they punish you with a weird, totally unnecessary 3rd mirror unless you pay up for the top spec? What's up with that? :)

Those fender flares work for me. Maybe not on beige, but it would look good on silver, black, or other colors.

I'd rather have this than a wood and leather steering wheel.

That mirror on the far forward position of the passenger side is far from useless. If I had not had one on my cars while living in Japan, driving would have been far more challenging.

That mirror serves a very similar purpose to the mirror one often sees on the front of school buses, shown here as a "Crossover Mirror:"

On a school bus, the primary purpose is to see what is immediately in front of the bus, such as a small child.

In the case of the fender mirror shown on the Land Cruiser, it is so the driver can see what is approaching at an intersection to the driver's right - since folks drive on the left side of the road in Japan (RHD), this would show oncoming traffic in the near lane (left lane) when stopped at an intersection. Roads are often small with obstructed views at intersections, so this would allow the driver to see oncoming traffic by just sticking the very front of the truck into the intersection.

I've often wished one of those mirrors was available in the States for our LHD Cruisers.

That makes sense.

I feel the vehicle should come with ~3" convex mirrors on the lower outer corners of the side mirrors from the factory, or at least as an option. It would make the vehicle much safer.

These are the mirrors semi-truck (and bus) drivers rely on to safely change lanes with much longer vehicles.

Gas here is about $4.15 a gallon. Road tax is paid every year and my 80 series is $170. A JCI (inspection) is due every two years and is $500. Insurance is $500 a year for full coverage. Owning a car isn't that expensive.

Tolls will kill you though. A day driving around Tokyo will cost $20-40+.

And leather is rare here. Most cars, including the new luxury ones, don't have leather. They stick to cloth.

Good information. That's twice the price for fuel (at the moment). We are spoiled with cheap gas in the United States, due in large part to the fact that it is priced in gallons instead of liters. The other vehicle costs are about the same, minus the mandatory $500 inspection.
