The company was formed in April 1915, Mr. Koito Genrokuro Shoten founded. (Kyobashi, Tokyo) Production and sales of Fresnel Lenses For railway signal lamps.
August 1957 Koito Electric Manufacturing Co., Ltd. established. A short time after that production and sales of All Glass Sealed Beam Headlamps begin in October 1957.
The company didn't start manufacture of Miniature Bulbs for automobiles untill october 1974. Halogen Headlamps were introduced in july 1978.
