Good Day All,

I am looking for a good shop to do a knuckle rebuild for me. As much as I would like to do it myself i do not have the space for it. Any suggestions of anyone close to Camp Pendleton? SD and IE are both acceptable drives. Also I notice that there are parts kits from several vendors on here are most shops willing to use a kit i bring in to lower my costs some? And one last thing does anyone know roughly how much it might cost all totaled up?

Cheers
Adam

Two very good shops.

SD Trux (where my knuckles are being looked at as I type) is located off Miramar Blvd in SD. John is great.

Yotamaster in Corona is also superb. Eric and Jay there.

Both are highly recommended and do great work.

I had mine rebuilt at YotaMasters and have nothing but good things to say about Eric and Jay! Just got my truck back from them for some work they did a few years ago. A bearing went bad and they covered it under warranty. Eric even refused to take my money! Enough said!

I was wondering what the cost is at yota and SD for a front knuckle service. I've asked at a few local Toyota dealerships and they've quoted me around $1100. Just wondering if there are any benefits having the service done by Toyo Techs?

I've always wondered if there was a way to get the SoCal community to do a once a year service for PM or needed stuff to their trucks at some location. For instance: a day during the year where as many would come out and do a radiator flush. We all do it once a year but I've never done it myself. Def would like to learn. Or a day where we all do front brake service. We've all seen the YouTube vids and its tempting to DYI but it would be cool for others to be there and learn from others. Ooops. Sorry for the hijack. It would be cool where we all schedule a day and do front end knuckle service. Just saying.

Thanks guys I will give those places a call and see what they can do. And I think a group wrenching session is a pretty good idea. The manual and searching mud can only take you so far before its nice to have someone else there who has done it before.

I would love to see this group wrenching idea come to life. I have so many things i need to learn, anyone have time to organize this?

On top of a group wrench I was also considering asking a local Toyota dealership to give us prices and discounts at CDan prices. I've asked CDan about this before and his response was:greed.
Lets try to get a local dealership to support our local Toyota enthusiasts!!!!

I am located in San Diego and was planning on rebuilding my knuckles at some point this month. Maybe we can get together and do both cruisers at the same time. I have never done a rebuild before, but another fellow mud member is going to be here to help out.

Family Toyota 'used to' give us 20% off, but the parts guy that would do it is no longer there and it's a no go now. Would buy last minute stuff there, but on planned orders, always CDAN.

I just don't think it's fair. I have been meaning to get someone at San Juan Capistrano Toyota to help us out. And I want to approach someone there to see if we can have some way of doing a group wrench with a Toyota Tech to facilitate and guide the work, discussions, and questions. We would give them more business. That's a win win, right?

It certainly could be. I would not count on a "class" however. More likely discounted labor and parts rates.
Insurance, OSHA, ET-AL, all frown upon customers in the service department. And especially them actually doing something to a car.

I'd start with the Parts and Service Managers. Do not ask them at 8:00 on a Monday morning. Find a quieter mid afteroon when they are not putting out forest fires.

Cabe Toyota in long beach provides a 20% tlca discount on parts. Good folks and they know cruisers.
