I'm getting ready to rebuild the steering knuckles in a couple of days, did them a while back on mt landcruiser wich went pretty well, I used the original shims ( don't know if it was the correct way but worked out ok ). so my question here is that does anyone know how similar the knuckles are on the pick up and landcruiser? Used the FSM on the cruiser but only have a Hanes manual for the pick up- the writters didn't seam to think it was important enough to go into detail about the pre '85 trucks, The kit I got came from JTOutfitters and has 16 shims in it at four differant thicknesses, Anyone tell me from experiance the similarites between the two vehicles? And any tips would be greatly appriciated-yes got lots of rags and plastic sheats to keep the garage from looking like a battle field =learned that the hard way last time. Thanks a bunch in advance.

Totally different from a Cruiser axle..... get ready for a long learning experience.... :D Just pullin' your leg. Exactly the same (For the most part), get ready for a repeat. And check the FAQ thread here, there's a few rebuilds linked..... I'd reuse the old shims, just make sure you keep them where they were...

Thanks guys, I feel better now-just like to have a plan before diving into anything, Did it once- second time around should be even more fun.
