I've been working on my 2001 GCC Spec LC and its electrical issues for a while. I finally got the door locks all sorted out. The locks work, but I noticed when I tried to program the key fobs, they started getting weaker after being locked and unlocked multiple times. I think is was not fully locking all the doors. I found this video and wrote down the instructions below. Similar to all the others, but you don't need top-tier door locks. I also added a line about how to erase all programmed fobs and start over.
Again, this works with Receiver, Door Control 89741-60100. On my LHD, it is located on the driver's side, basically behind the mirror controls. According to chat GPT, the GCC LCs use a different frequency remote than the US spec LCs. GCC uses 433 MHz. US uses 315 MHz. If you bought an aftermarket FOB. Make sure you got the right one.
1. Lock all doors (you can use the power locks, but make sure all the doors, including the rear, are locked).
2. Manually unlock the driver’s door (do not use the power locks) and open the door.
3. Insert and remove key
4. Use the Driver's door manual lock switch. Switch it from open to lock and back 5 times. When you are done, it will be in the open position. Do not race, deliberate and almost slow back and forth.
4. Close and then reopen the driver’s door
5. Repeat step 4 (5x lock and unlock)
6. Insert a key, turn it to 'on', then back to off and remove the key. {If you want to erase all currently programmed fobs, turn it from off to on 2 times and then remove the key}
The doors will lock and then unlock, signifying it is in programming mode.
7. On the remote, press Lock and Unlock buttons together
8. On the remote, press the Lock button. If your locks start going crazy, press it again.
My doors started locking and unlocking a few times. I pressed the lock again, and then it locked and unlocked. I'm not sure what it signifies because I programmed one by erasing everything, and then a few hours later, I added the second fob. It did the same thing when I added the second fob. Regardless, it all worked.
