I was unsure what I'd find when I pulled the transmission pan. To my surprise it was absolutely spotless. The 4 pan magnets had just a small coating of debris and the filter was crystal clear. This was the first time the pan was dropped since it was installed at Araco. A testament to regular fluid changes.
Pics are the naked tranny, pan as I took it off and filter.

Brief Update:

Found the pinion nut living behind the companion flange when I finally pulled it off the front drive shaft. Apparently it hadn't been staked at all. It looks perfectly round and there is no sign of it ever being staked.

And you're sending a bill to whomever did the work?

In recent years people have become too dependant on Loctite, this is probably what they did instead of staking the nut.........

After 4 weeks in the shop, she's back on the road. This will be the last installment of pictures. I promise.

Pic1 is Dave Crum grinding down the 1 tooth on the ring gear to get the center pin out so we can put the axles in.

Pic2: I wanted to make sure this one was staked properly.

Pic3: All done and ready for a test drive.

Had to take a few shots of my knuckles. They'll never be this clean again.

Once again a HUGE thank you to Dave Crum for letting me overstay my welcome at his shop, and to JP Robinson for lending me his truck for a month. Thanks to you both.

Did you use loctite?
What is the sharpie mark for in the second pic?

Lift?

what kind of springs are you running and what lift is it?:)

Re-geared to 4.88.

Don't know what that sharpie mark is. That turned out to be the wrong companion flange anyway, so it was removed. The correct flange was sent and all threads were cleaned and red loctite was used and a good punch for the stake.

Lift is IronMan 4". Highly recommend it.

So how was the test drive? Feel any different? Happy?

Nice job Jon. Glad everything turned out good in the end.

Can't wait to see the Rhino blasting away on the trails!

It really doesn't blast away on the trails. It more like lumbers along.
