I need some advice on cooling fan options for a '77 FJ55. I'll try to keep this short n sweet.
My setup is a '77 PIG with '84 FJ60 2F installed. Fan clutch on FJ60 motor only leaves 1 cm or less gap between fan blades and radiator.
I know there is another person out there with a FJ60 2f in their pig.
I need a fan or option that will allow for enough clearance between fan and radiator.
I have old clutchless FJ55 fan and pulley however fan only has 4 of 6 blades so I'd rather not use it.
I recently picked up one of those slim 2 fan electric fans from a Ford Contour . It fits pretty damn nice on the FJ55 radiator however some simple mods will be necessary to mount it. I still am not 100% certain that it will clear all the pulleys when mounted. I've been told at 50% it will draw 10amps and pull 2300 CFM. 100% power draws 34amps and pulls 3400CFM. I believe it initially likes 100amp draw to start the fan but there are options to help with that. To run this setup I will need a better alternator and $100-$150 worth of switches and relays. Oh and magical wiring knowledge...or any wiring knowledge for that matter.
Cost is a factor for me however I do enjoy the junk yard.
I love to hear suggestions of what worked or didn't work. I'd also like advice on junkyard vehicles with a alternator that might suit my needs.
Thanks!
