Well because I'm one of the world's biggest procrastinator's, it usually costs me. On my last couple day trips out, I had some slight carb problems where it would stick at around 3000 rpm. Not a huge problem as it rarely gets that high, but a problem nonethelss. I had also just bolted this carb on straight out of the box, and while it ran great, it was rather rich and sucking way too much of the precious fossil fuel.
So time was running out with this weekends events fast approaching, and myself being a sadsack of a mechanic (I'm a kind of replace instead of fix it kind of guy), I decided to test the waters with a local mobile mechanic. My 40 has no insurance, I just toss permits on it when I need it, so that's why I went this route.
Anyways, a quick thumb through the yellow pages produced A.C.E. mobile auto repair, and after some slight pressure, convinced him to come out this same evening and fiddle with my Qjet.
So here comes the karma, as I notice a 2003 Landcruiser backing into my driveway shortly thereafter ( I was expecting some kind of beat up old chevy with a toolbox on the flatdeck).
So as he's tuning it we chat, and it turns out hes originally from Tanzania (came over here fleeing from Edi Amin) and is a 'cruiserhead! When I showed him my South African fj45 his eyes really lit up! Naturally I invited him to Cruiser Days as well.
And my 40 once again purrs nicely too boot. Gotta love that karma.

Nice story. My karma of the day. My 80 breaks down on me and doesn't start over the alarm blaring. I am at this wholesale warehouse that is closing down and they are trying to move tons of furniture at 40 pct wholesale prices so they are really busy. After trying to problem solve why my 80 doesn't turn over, I decided that I had to at least disconnect the battery to clean off the battery terminals but with no tools in the truck and tool bag I am in trouble. I asked a warehouse personel if they had a wrench and said that they did not have any tools. What a liar! With fork lifts and machinery at least he could have said that tools are for company use. So walking around looking at the ground trying to figure out what to do next. I see a cheap wrench that was kicked to the side that they the manufacturer gives you to assemble furniture. Must of fell out of a box. This is the only tool that I have seen in this warehouse in over 7 hours of shopping for my immediate family and was so happy that at least I could try something. The thin metal wrench had two loop sizes and I was surprised that one of them fix perfectly in the tight space between the bottom of the nut and the top of the battery. After cleaning and scraping the inside of the battery terminals and battery post with my keys the cruiser started right up. I got lucky today too.

Ok slow day at work, so I will post up a Karma story happened to me a few years ago.

Went to buy tires out in Mission for my Datsun prior to cruiser ownership, and the greasy, long hair hippie tire changer helper would talk to me, and although most of the people avoided him, I just chatted with him, seemed like he'd done a lot of things in his life, just now looked like a wierdo. Anyway, bought cruiser, came by to get tires, talked to him agian, and as I was leaving with my newly installed 33 BFG's, he mentioned he had a set of cruiser manuals for my 1982 BJ42, (which I had been looking for and could not get anywhere ever since I owned my cruiser) and asked if I would want them. I said for sure, gave me his number and off I went. At the time I think 4 wheel auto was selling a photocopied version of the manual at like 300 bucks each (Toyota had it discontinued) So I got some money out, called him up and went to buy them. Got there, he handed them over, and showed me a few pictures of his old BJ60 and BJ42 he used to have. I asked him how much he wanted for them, he said nothing, they are no good to him and he knows I will get to use them. And I got to say those factory manuals sure helped me out over the years I've owned them (and still will in the future).
Cheers,
Deny

yah you never know how a person can help you in the future. So it's aways a good plan to be nice.

Those manuals are precious for sure. I have a set of 1980 chassis and b series engine... then by accident later I found a 1984 chassis and then I found the later 3b 13b-t engine manuals.

Now I just have to find a 1991 set :)
