Also, thick overspray comes off easy. A thin mist overspray is a PITA to remove. Tape off and cover.

Lots of good info in this thread - much appreciated guys. I spoke with Dex at KC Elite Car Care and he walked through a number of potential options. He is pretty booked right now and said scheduling ceramic coating takes about a 3 week lead time. He recommended applying the PPF immediately upon delivery for rock chip protection, and said that the ceramic coating can go right over the PPF when availability opens up to do the entire vehicle. I'm also going to check at some additional places recommended in this thread.

As for my plans for the LC generally, my wife and I are big into hiking/camping. Prior to moving to MO, we spent years extensively hiking and camping throughout in Appalachia in Virginia and all the along the east coast -Blue Ridge Mountains, Shenandoah, Smokies, Black Mountains, White Mountains. One of the draws of the LC is the ability to take it on long treks and how well suited it is for loading up gear, etc.

We've already decided our first trip will be a long weekend to Colorado. No immediate plans for hardcore modding or offroading, though. This will be my daily driver (drive about 25k miles a year), so I'm going to be careful on mods that change ride quality or MPG until I get a feel for the truck. In the past we've had tons of fun in my 4Runner and did not need to do extensive over-landing to get to fantastic camping/hiking spots. Of course an LC opens up many new possibilities... We'll see!

Yeah, congrats on the upcoming new 200! We will need to figure out a special wave when we all see each other on the road.

The PCA car club I'm in has done some tech events at the Midwest Tint in Lee's Summit. They come highly recommended by a lot of guys in that group for PPF. I spoke to them about redoing my clear bra on my other car, and also paint correction and ceramic, and they pointed me to Extreme Detail in Olathe for the latter. I see Extreme Detail has PPF listed on their website now, but don't know if they still do it in conjunction with Midwest Tint like they did a couple years back when I was inquiring. I did not have any service done by either, but met with Extreme Detail and had them give me a quote. They were great to talk to and I would have had them do the work, but decided to just start waxing my car myself and since have gotten an orbital buffer and paint corrected it myself. I do still need to get my PPF replaced, as it's coming up on 10 years old, which was about the lifespan back then.

If you have any plans to off road the new rig, I would suggest PPF over the whole thing (or at least the sides and front). That stuff is cool! When you get scratches in it all you have to do is park it in the sun and it will "heal" itself. I looked into it after I got my first trail pin striping. Otherwise I've heard ceramic makes washing a breeze and definitely keeps it looking cleaner, longer.

Best of luck! Let us know what you do.

hold on, you’re in PCA and you have a 200!? I am as well! I need to start coming to saturday breakfasts again. You knowDavid Statdtmueller and the rest of the guys im assuming?

Hey! Great taste!! Yes, I know David. I believe he is a Parkville guy, too. I haven't done a breakfast since they moved from Le Peep, but will occasionally take my 9 year old to drool over all the cars. I do try to attend as many of the driving events as I can, which usually amounts to one HPDE, a couple autocross, and a fun run or two each year. It would be a lot of fun to meet up with you guys sometime!

I was thinking a rooftop tent and aluminum trailer for the 200 would be a great way to start checking out Hallet, Mid-Ohio, and some of the other midwest tracks I've been wanting to go to. Makes perfect sense to me, but the wife isn't having it!

Looks pretty good. Is it holding up well? How long ago did you do it?

I did it about a year ago. It holds up pretty well with normal driving. The only spots where I can now see chrome peeking through are spots at edges where I didn’t get it thick enough. That is easily fixed. Touch ups are easy. I did 3 thin layers. More would be better. You want a full thickness layer of over spray at the edges. That allows easy peal off of the body panel with a sharp line at the chrome piece.
