Very interesting, would be nice to have the option in certain areas to be able to burn wood. Are they only available online or are they in stores?

i don't think they're even available online. From what i found, and i didn't search long, is that they're only available to undeveloped non industrialized nations.

Google "rocket stove". You can make them from just about anything, though maybe not as light as the backpack one on the web site.

oddly enough it is, but not just your Ipod. For most of the world without a well established land line network they rely on cell and mobile internet devices.
I remember seeing a cool map somewhere that detailed how people in different regions of the world primarily communicated over wire and air, with air from mobile device being used as a primary more than you'd think.

I don't get it for the small stove - You can't really cook anything substantial on it, and for charging, a small flexible solar panel is easier, more durable, better output... But I suppose if you need to charge something at night or have an insatiable urge for toasted marshmallows... ?

Very true, in many countries they are going with wireless infrastructure and skipping the whole wire/fiber step. We sell a lot of wireless stuff into emerging second and third world countries.

It's a typical size for a pack stove, actually kind of on the large size. The design is extremely efficient, you get a whole lot of heat with very little fuel. Also keep in mind if you are backpacking you can skip hauling fuel, which is a big plus.

The addition of the charger is pretty useful if you have stuff like a GPS, ham radio or flashlight. You can also skip carrying spare batteries so there is another weight savings. Plus the charger works even on cloudy days, a big plus over solar panels.

I see the home stove being of more value. I would think that the heat output for the camp stove would be insufficient.
This is a very efficient wood gasification design. Search Youtube for "Bush Buddy" and look at the boil times people are getting for the same design with no fan. The fan will only improved performance.

BTW the no fan wood gasification design is an easy DIY project. There are probably a dozen you tube instructional videos that show how to do it.
