So, with the discussion of goals that just started, I'd like to share
with you guys the list of questions I'm compiling from trying to keep
track of all the conversations regarding our club, that as a
presidential nominee, these are the ones I would give some priority to
attempting to resolve. As of now, I've got some answered, and am working
on how to best answer and maximize the potential of each. feel free to
answer, or add to the list. I'll use this as a basis for beginning to
help resolve some areas of complaint, and see if we can't be bigger and
better for the resolution.
1. How do we make T.L.C.A. more relevant to ALL members? I believe this
may be easier than it seems, and I'm fleshing those ideas out as of
now...
2. How to generate more revenue? Again, this one seems to be coming
along nicely, and with the help of Chris, and Art, we may have some
considerable success, here. At least, in theory.
3. How to be inclusive to ALL Toyota 4x4 owners, while still respecting
our heritage? Again, I think I've got a handle on how to do this, with
minimum casualties.
4. How to create 1 or 2 more T.L.C.A. specific events across the
country? Across the international lines? Or, conversely, how to make
ourselves more present in or at the events that already exist? This one
is gonna be tough. It's gonna require a hand from our members to get
done, and just ask Art how quickly people are wiling to step in and
help. Ask him how his committee selection is coming. Then you will
understand just how tough something like this is going to be.
5. How to keep members? This obviously ties into question 1, as a matter
of relevancy, but still needs to be considered as a separate issue,
because we are losing good folks.
6. Should we offer three membership levels? each priced accordingly?
such as:
a. trails/ website access membership?
b. trails only membership?
c. website access only membership?
won't necessarily save us any money, except on mailing, but gives our
membership an option in how to receive these benefits of membership.
7.Should we create international land use reps? this would be for areas
where we have a significant presence, such as Canada, or Australia.
with the creation of these reps, should we create a land use
coordinator? somebody to be the face of our land use people? responsible
for speaking with land owners, help reps with issues they may be having,
compile reports from reps, get them to Todd for trails, and out as
emails to the bod, work with Mark Van M. to get the info to him, and
posted on the website asap. for relevance, and access?
and to organize the land use efforts and directions? lotsa work would be
involved, but with reps in each area of the states, and internationally,
this position would keep us organized, and updated, so the relevancy of
an issue is not lost.
8. Work with Mark to make the website have some cool new features, that
can help us as bod to really get a feel for the membership that is not
as active on the pirate and mud boards. things like the option to donate
to land use, or seed money, or event support, or any thing else we get a
feel that could be useful. this way, it's a donation, and the membership
can get a feel for where the money is actually going. In addition to
that, we can really generate new interest by having the membership
include any story that relates to the use of a Toyota 4x4 vehicle. Like
that last kayaking trip, or rock climbing, or how they towed somebody
out of a ditch when it iced over, that kind of thing. This way, the
stories can vary more often, and people don't get tired of seeing the
same old wheeling story, or how to swap a drivetrain story, or those
kind of things.
This is all just some brainstorming I've been doing. Some of these
things will be easier than others, some will never happen, and some will
fizzle out. I continue to compile a list of questions, and a list of
answers, but thought that I would share these select thoughts with you,
see where we can go.
Obviously, since Jeff and I are both running for president, these may
never get addressed, as I am more than certain that Jeff has a set of
these lying around somewhere, and that he will have his own priorities
if elected. But, just wanted to get these out, see what kind of
discussion they generate, and see where it could take us.
Thanks, and feel free to email me off list, or pm me through mud with
any questions, if you feel that need. Thanks for the time, I know this
was a long one.
