Why is everyone swapping w/ a vortec when there is Toyota v-6's and now 8's out there?

Why not Toyota instead of Chevota?

The chevy 350 is a very plentiful engine in the US and parts are cheap and easy to come by. Many people have grown up working on that engine and already know it well also.

It can produce a lot of power for relatively short money as well.

cost, plain and simple. i don't think AA makes any adapters yet for the LC TC for these engines. The offset rear axle is the obstacle but it too can be fixed with enough time, money and/or effort.

I see that Toyota is releasing a 6 speed auto with it's new V8 - that would be a sweet combination to put in an FJ40, but it would be a very expensive engine.
