I remember reading at one point that there was a series of Corolla wagons that used the same exact rear license plate light/trim as the 60/62 series (the one that rots out on the tailgate), but I don't remember the years.
AC solenoids on Corollas can be used to replace those uber-expensive 2WD/4WD solenoids on a FJ62
Horns: pretty much any Mercedes, especially the big sedans
Don't forget the old-style Yorks from the early Volvos
Cool underhood worklight on some of the old GM pickups and Jeep Waggys

WHAT YEAR IS THE SOLENOID FOR THE Corolla and will that work on a FJ62

Did anyone ever figure out which series of Corolla wagon has the same tailgate trim as the FJ62? I just bought an 88 and the District of Columbia won't pass a car that has rust through and they failed my inspection over a trim piece! help. Thanks

I always look at the old conversion vans, broncos, pathfinders, rodeos, etc. with rear tire carriers and wonder...

Anyone snag one of those and fab up a bumper mount bracket?

The tire racks are garbage, lightweight square tube.

But, now that you mention it, I remember that some bronco, bronco II and conversion vans (back in the 90's when I worked at the Frod dealer), had these nifty tire carrier latches. The carrier had a latch on it, similar to a dor latch, and the bumper or body had a striker, like a door pin. There was a pullrod out to a squeze handle (like a bike brake handle), so the operator could grab the carrier in a convenient location and squeeze the handle, then swing open the carrier. To close carrier, just slam and it latches like a car door. Sorry, no pics...

IMO, that latch, striker & handle would be a nice addition to a sturdy tire rack.

dammit!!! wish i'd thought of that when i totaled my 88 full size bronco just before buying the 84 FJ.

Here's pics of a VDO gage panel from a junkyard 1986 Audi 4K.
(Volts) (Oil press.) (Oil temp)

Now I'm wondering if this gage panel could be trimmed down & installed in a radio hole....:hhmm:[/QUO

NICE! Hope it fits.

This is old news but the steering shaft joints are the same as early corolla 1200cc about 72-74.
Thats only the larger uni joint, the early model has the same size top and bottom, later models have the small one on the end near the steer box.

Birfs, Locking Hubs, 3FE Igniter and Coil from 90's 4runners. and minis

So my busted 91 4Runner might be a parts bin... I'm guessing some of this is for 62's though, not my 60? I think I have to do some serious thinking about parting this 4Runner out now. At the very least it will get me the money to get more parts for my 60. :D

So if anyone knows of what parts fro a 91 4Runner will work on a 60 or 62, I'd appreciate the help. You can PM me since I don't want to jack this thread. If I can't use them, then they will go up for sale.

Need this info.

Edit: 1975 Corolla wagon looks right to me...

But those are super rare now. Much easier to find 20 60-series ina scrap yard before you find one of those...

As close up as I could find:

Compare to the 60/62:

90 runners/minis are IFS, no birfs, the hubs (if non automatic) are suitable if the innards are swapped out for the proper spline count.

These can also be found on Toyota Coaster buses over here in AUS,

another mod i have on my 60 is Nissan GQ mirrors area nice upgrade from the stock small mirrors, without going to the full size 62 mirror, and they bolt straight on

What is a Nissan GQ? Does it exist on this side of the Big Pond as some other badge?

Edit: nevermind, GQ = Patrol. Nope, except the rare graymarket truck... Unless some other unit uses the same mirrors (I doubt it). I always wonder about Monteros, Isuzu Troopera and other truck's mirrors.

I have one to add:

Chevy truck rims. Read the tires to be sure you have the right size, but almost all 1980s models are 6-lug, 15 X 8, which is a suitable replacement for stock Yota rims.

six lug is fine. But be careful about the center hole. It can be too small on lots of them.

Always relevant on the fronts, and if you sport the full-floaters on the rear. But in general, a good cautionary note, especially if you even want to rotate your tires (you should, of course).

Know the diameter of the hub, off hand, so we can add that tidbit to this thread?
