I doubt the HF spot weld cutter will last long , especially if it encounters any rust or hard spots . If you are going to tackle a lot of spot welds , try to find a Blair (Hougen) cutter setup - they are made from seriously high quality tool steel and not recycled garbage . Made in USA and you can use the arbor setup with other size cutters to produce very nice , very round holes instead of the crappy results that hole saws produce .

No doubt that the HF unit isn't as good as the pro units, wouldn't be the tool for the professional body man, maybe? I have Blair, Spitznagel, etc. I tend to break the teeth off of the Blair cutters, long before they get worn.

For this project, I need replacement cutters, didn't want to chase them, so stopped by HF and got the above tool.

Drilled 28 in this panel, on the first side of the cutter.

Drilled many more on the project.

Not a fantastic tool, but did the whole job, worked well and is still usable. The only thing is, the center pin hole wears, this is OK with me, consider it disposable, when the cutter is gone, will just replace the whole thing. The tool is cheaper than a replacement Blair cutter, so :meh:.

I have been using the cheap HF spot weld cutter, by no means would I say it is a keeper, but to cut out everything in need done I have no complaints. Yes it is cheaply made with cheap materials, but using the tool the right way has produced many cuts so far in my build.
