JT Outfitters, a dishonest business??

Three weeks ago Sept 17 I ordered brakeline parts from JT Outfitters!
My credit card was charged right away.
To date October 6 I have not heard or received from them.

Six days ago I wrote JT outfitters about the whereabouts of my order.
No answer to date.

This smells foul to me!
What do you guys think?

I have traded with them a few times and everything went OK. They did send me a wrong part one time and when I called they said keep the one I had and they sent me a new one. Can't give them much praise cause they simply did what they were supposed to do, no more that my expectations.

Having said that, if you do a search of this board, you will see that many users have had problems. Can you call them? They may have just messed up the address.

when you give someone notice(a letter) they should have 10 days to answer
did you try calling them?

I've never had problems. He even shipped something and I paid the next day once. Maybe you slipped through the cracks. It would be nice if they had an automated ordering setup.

dishonest?

I don't think so.

incredibly inept. arrogant. piss poor communication. unable to meet even the most basic in customer service. relies on ebay and newbs because every informed cruiser head wouldn't even mention the name without spitting.

these are all things I've heard or experienced with JTO (ptew-splat)

Not intentionally dishonest.

I take that back. They will frequently lie to you about the availability of parts and the shipping dates, but they do not steal outright.

as far as I know.

Yeah, I slipped through the cracks with them too. It's a long story and there's a thread about it somewhere in here. I never received the part but I did get a refund. JTO is legit, they just have a nice web presence so you expect more. I'm sure a lot of the TLC specialists don't have a large margin and are hurting with the economic downturn. They can't afford the overhead to stock deeply and they're orders are so small manufacturers and distributors fill them last so they don't always have what you want when you need it. I try to be understanding but I'm with you, don't charge me until my stuff is in the mail. I'm barely floating myself, I can't afford to float someone else too.

JTO

It is not the economy, JTO has always been hit and miss. I have dealt with them for some time and always got my parts. When I order it is always by phone. I pin them down, make them check and double check to see if it is in stock. Never had a problem.

x2 Pick up the phone and call them, it is hard to ignore you when you are on the phone talking to them:meh:

Have had similar issues with vendors (LC and non-LC) with e-mail follies. When you get up in their ass on the phone, you'd be surprised how quickly s*** gets fixed:grinpimp:

didn't we just have one of these last week?

and the week before, and the week before that, and the week before that, and the week before that, and the week before that, and,,,,,, well you get the picture.

So let me get this straight: you ordered three weeks ago, and you've sent them one email? And now you're posting up here? I'm not absolving them of blame (they clearly have a dubious track record), but I don't think this is worth starting a thread over. Yet.

I disagree to a point. They charged his credit card. It's been three weeks. No return correspondence. That's just now how a mail order business works anymore. I order something from a reputable business I expect it not to be charged until it has shipped and I expect it on my doorstep in 10 days latest. It's not the customers job to hound the business to get the order filled.

Like I said, I'm not absolving them of blame. Personally, I wouldn't start a thread until I had AT LEAST tried to call them. One email? C'mon.

YMMV.

Isn't there two "JT" businesses? JTOutfitters and JT ring and pinion or something?

I hope the name similarities don't hurt the wrong people.
