Man I was scrolling car lots and used cars for sale in japan and came across and 87 4x4 toyota pickup and was shocked at how awesome these trucks look over on japan! The difference are huge between us and jp, and honestly the Japanese hiluxs are way cooler! So if anyone on here has one I would love to read the build thread and also would like someone's vin on an 85-87 toyota pickup from Japan so I can look into parts availability for those trucks. And also very very curious if anyone has an 79-83 hilux double cab!! LN46 is the model I believe. They still got a solid axle in 87 in japan!!! And look at that bed, its a cross between the old 79-83 bed style and the new 84 and up body style! It actually makes me like the 84 and up body style now, how awesome is that.

And check out this awesome 1982 Double cab hilux! I would also be very interested in someones vin so I can look up parts for this as well and if there is a build on one of these I would love to see it! Thanks for any info guys!

Yeah they're cool and all, but as far as "huge differences" I guess I don't see it. The only reason I could see to import a JDM Toyota 4x4 truck would be if it was a double-cab turbodiesel. You can swing a dead cat around here and find decent 4th gen Hilux trucks here for WAY less than importing one. Unless you REALLY want RHD.

Where's that DC Hilux? New Zealand? Australia? It sure isn't Japan. BTW That's what I'm talking about. EDIT: Great Britain, right?

Yeah I get you, the differences arent HUGE just more cool. Like the lip around the bed with the hooks, I love that style on the 79-83 and to me thats important. To me thats exciting and I like it, once again to each his own. But nevertheless still pretty cool. I bet they even offered a turbo diesel option on the 87 over there, idk.

There are a few guys on here who have the double cabs, scroll down/a few pages back.
If I am in the position, i would love to bring over a 90 series just because. By the time I have the $ theyll be legal.

And yes the double cab is currently forsale in Great Britain but was imported over from Australia by the owner, i know that specific one isn't from japan, but from what I read they were available in japan, so if anyone has had experience with them I'd like to know, just out of curiosity.
