January CLC trail Ride 1/17/2026, Shubarth trail

Meet at the Crystola Philips 66 gas station 20421 Hwy 24, Saturday, January 17, Meet at 8:00 leave at 8:30 -

Bring your camera, lunch and sense of adventure. Hope for SNOW.

We use GMRS Channel 15 for Rig to Rig communication.

If you are interested in attending, reply to this thread with a clear yes. If no one replies to this thread with a clear yes, the ride may be canceled or rescheduled. If you don't reply with a clear reply and just show up, you may be the only one at the meeting location.

It was a beautiful day out on the mountain. So awesome and rare that we got to break trail on 313. The sugar snow was just the right depth to create a bit of challenge, but not make the day a struggle. Just perfect.

FR307 Was a bit disappointing. There are ongoing logging/thinning operations continuing from last year. they have made the road into an access road that you could drive a minivan on . We did get to see a herd of Tiger Cat mulchers in their natural environment. Once we got onto FR313 and FR311 we got into the snow and followed a set of ATV tracks. The snow had been through some freeze thaw cycles and was what I term Sugar Snow. Not very good traction as it stays crystalized and doesn't pack down.
