I was up there on Sunday (the 2nd) and there really isn't any snow worth mentioning. If you want snow by the 22nd, you'd better start working on your snow dance. Existing snow will probably all be gone by Wednesday.

Got chains?

Sounds like I'm in & bringing a friend--anyone have any chains for 31X10.5s laying around they want to part with? I have one set but I don't really want to buy another new set--hoping to get to 33s or 35s this summer.

This trail is not extreme at all. In the summer, I see people out there in Hondas and Subarus. We run this trail in January because the snow adds to the level of difficulty, and I think also the scenery. You will be fine in your stock 80, just don't be a hero if you start digging into the snow, and do't be afraid to ask for a spot if you think something is out of your skill level. That's what wheeling with a club is all about. No one is going to roll their eyes or curse you if you get stuck....we live for pulling stuck rigs out :)

As for breaks, we take quite a few and then we usually take a pretty long lunch. Your child will be fine in his seat. The trail is so mild, I usually have Claire on my lap "driving" with no trouble. This is a great family trail, and also a good way to test out how the family will like 4 wheeling.

When I have the girls along they have much more fun when we take lots of breaks because they get out and have fun vs. sitting in the vehicle all day if we don't stop. I have also had three or four kids playing in the back of the 60 on the easy trails and they have lots of fun doing that. I need ear plugs from time to time but that's OK.

You can't miss the Western gas station. It's the first gas stop on the right side of Hwy 24 on the way to woodland park. You could bring a shovel, but most likely won't need it. We would pull you out before you could dig yourself out. You won't need extra fuel, just make sure you have at least half tank before leaving the western. Bring lunch, snacks, and drinks and a camera.

Anybody planning on bringing a grill?

Got some decent pics--great run aside from not wearing a warm enough coat and someone's minor technical difficulties.

A lesser man would tell everyone that Luke's tranny blew out and he had to be winched, pushed and towed home.

I am proud to be above that kind of stuff.

I will say, however, that 60's are once again proven to be the zenith of off-road engineering and when my truck and I grow up we want to be Chuck and his truck :steer:

:) The 4runner is safely parked in the driveway awaiting it's fate. No matter what happens, you won't be seeing the ol' black 4runner on the trails for a long time. Disconnected the battery today to put it into hibernation. What will happen? I'm not sure, I'm thinking of parting it out, selling it as is, or biting the bullet and fixing all the problems it has. Fixing it would be almost like building a new rig, so that almost inspires me to do just that. :meh:
