Brad (bpenn1980) and I did some wrenching this Saturday. Brad did his birfs, wheel bearings, front rotors and 100 series pads. I did my front rotors and pads.

We started around 10 am and finished around 1 am.

Nice work guys, feels good to do it yourself, a sense of accomplishment and you leaned a great deal about your rig. This experience could prove extremely valuable if you ever bust a birf on the trail. I spent Sunday putting in a new radiator, new belts and a new (modified Land Tank) fan clutch. Started around 3:30pm Sunday and finished up around 8pm.
 
We planned on doing Brad's birfs over two days. At some point in the evening we decided to finish the job that day.

I told myself that I need to do all the PM's before any mods. I still need these to do:

- rear axle/brakes
- PHH
- coolant flush
- alternator brushes
- starter contacts
- valve cover gasket
- in tank fuel filter
- crank seal/oil pump seal

Hopefully I can get these done in the next few weeks.
 
Nice work guys, it took me 3 days to do my birfs! But I was stopping every 4 hours and jumping to step #6 :beer: so it was 2 days of actual work and one day of contemplating why it was taking so long.:grinpimp:

That is an excellent idea. One I could never do because I don't have the patience or will power :rolleyes: but an admirable plan. :D

ha, that middle picture is pretty funny. I remember thinking, "birfs? man, this is easy, I could do this ALL DAY" and guess what? we did end up doing it all day, and quite a bit into the next one as well :lol:

Unfortunately, after a long day of good lovin on the 80 I had to pull over on the freeway for a check engine light on the way home at 2:30am... et tu brute? Betrayed! :censor: Not the highlight of my 1-month long ownership. I'm ok now, but was my tolerance was stretched real thin at the time :mad:

Brad...Great to see you tackling the biff job, gets easier/quicker the next time. How did the bearing looks? replace all those also?

For the CEL pretty easier to Diag on a 94; jumper T1&E1 (paper clip works fine) in the little black diag box on the passenger side firewall. Turn the key to on postion but don't start. Count the flashing lights, notice the pause and then the sequence after (2 quick flashs, pause, 8 in sequence Ie..28) Then look up the code in the book or post and I or somebody could refrence for you.

To reset CEL pull EFI fuse (under the hood box, drivers side) for 15 secs.

Thanks Brian, it feels good to get it done. :D I didnt even check the bearings out very well since I was replacing them all. Interesting thing though, the inner (larger) wheel bearing was difficult to get back onto the spindle...we had to monkey around with it for a while and actually used the brass to hit the hub/rotor and get it to seat correctly.

Yeah, luckily I had the FSM in the car and a wire to get the code...#2 heated o2 sensor, so I need to wait til next payday and order new sensors from dan "the man".
 
I'm glad you guys got it handled! Sometimes charging through the night is the only way to go! Sorry I missed you when you brought the tools back (thanks for the bonus Mike:cheers:)
