Amanda's sister has owned the 100 since ~45K miles. She just bought a RX 350 and we are close to a deal.

Stats:
184K miles with Timing Belt done at 110,555.
Completely stock with interior in good shape, but exterior has some dents and dings.
Non-GPS Dash

Big thanks to Chris for putting it up on the rack so we could inspect from below. Also big thanks to Ole Greg, DNP, Andy & Shush for putting experienced eyes on it. Chris also plugged in the code reader to see one of four O2 sensors is bad.

Here is the repair list:
CV Boot Kit. $88 for the pair
PFran Boot Clamps. $30
O2 Sensor. $170 at dealer. Other options?
Keys. Only one manual key available. All remote button keys are broken. Herrin Gear gave the following prices: plain key $54, remote key case kit to repair broken remote $55, new remote key $257
Valve Cover Gaskets. Repair records show they were tightened, but it looks like they are leaking. Do you have to remove the intake to get to the valve covers? $21 each
Suspension - at 184K it's shot. Won't make a change here for at least a year or more. Don't want a new driver in a lifted rig. If anyone has some decent stock height shocks, we may be able to use them.

Also, it looks like a distracted teenage girl did Jace a favor last week. She rear ended Jace's cousin in the 100. Front and rear bumper damage with the front getting the worst of it. He can live with the rear, but the front is cut through, dented and no longer in the correct position. The front bumper skin alone is $363 with upwards of $$$$ needed to prep, paint and install. The repair estimate will give the exact details, but it looks like an aftermarket bumper may be needed. Anyone have one?

He plans to pull the running boards and paint the wheels gunmetal gray or black. He also wants to black out the chrome emblems front and rear. I think I will encourage him to leave the grill chrome. The original stereo is toast, so we may do that soon. Front floor mats like Weathertech would be a good idea too.

All help and guidance is appreciated.

02 sensor. $80 from autozone denso. No need to give the stealer extra or labor. Its a 5 minute job, after un plug battery for 20 mins and then crank idle for 10ish to reset it

Stereo-- $50 bucks (unless you want speakers). Come drive my iron man lift when you look at options. At that mileage I'd look at front_rear sway bars.

Go aftermarket on that bumper!!

Almost forgot... It needs a windshield too.

Anyone had a successful 100 windshield replacement without wind noise and leaks in the Jxn metro?

Had no idea sway bars could wear out.
Did you mean the bushings?

Congrats on the purchase.

O2 sensors can be purchased on Amazon for cheaper than Autozone. Might also check a thread on the main 100 forum. seems like I got mine from the suggestion on that thread and they were around 60. I replaced both of the Pre-cat ones when I added the DT headers.

Valve cover gaskets: I haven't done them but have the new gaskets and tube seals to do the job. I don't think the Intake has to come off.

Keys: If they still have the guts from the remote keys, then you can just buy a new shell with a blade and have a new key cut. That's what I did. Think the shell is about 40 and another 40-50 to get it cut. I just transferred the old guts into the new shell. If you don't have a master key, then it becomes a lot more complicated. Greg did a bunch of research when he bought his and can probably explain better than I.

Front bumper: If you watch on the classifieds, people sell or give away their front bumper cover when they go aftermarket. Might save you some money.

Sway bar: Shush means the bushings and links. I added all the part numbers and showed pics. They are in this thread several pages back. Costs about 90 if you buy the parts and do change them yourself. Straightforward.

Windshield: I just had a new windshield installed from the hail damage. Barnett's Body shop had veneable glass do it. they used my VIN to order the new one. Come to find out, lots of LCs had port installed auto dimming mirrors. Mine was one of them. From the VIN, the glass that was ordered has a mount for the factory mirror that is non-dimming. Does yours have the auto dim? if so, then make sure they order glass that doesn't have the factory mount so you can mount whatever mirror you want. You can PM me and I can tell you about the one I ordered.

Suspension: You can check the classifieds and possibly find someone that will give you their old OEM setup once they went aftermarket. I have mine but they have 150K and probably aren't worth the trouble to change out.

Stereo: Again, check the classified but I would probably just go aftermarket there if the OEM one is toast.

Good luck. let me know if you have any other questions. If you order the VCG and the tube seals, we can have a wrenching Saturday and knock them both out. I have done them on my LS 430 and they are very similar...except a whole lot more room under the LC hood.

If the insurance co will not cut a check to my SIL, but will only pay the body shop for the work done, how do we get an aftermarket bumper out if this fiasco?

My guess:
Get estimate
Find a bumper for sale - likely new?
Visit insurance designated body shop
Have body shop purchase and install aftermarket bumper at a savings compared to the estimate for OEM
Will this fly?

CV Boot Kit. $88 for the pair
PFran Boot Clamps. $30
O2 Sensor. $170 at dealer. Other options? Just make sure to source whatever brand Toyota uses (like Shush said, probably Denso.) Plenty of threads where reported "universal fit" sensors [i.e., Bosch, etc.] didn't work
Keys. Only one manual key available. All remote button keys are broken. Herrin Gear gave the following prices: plain key $54, remote key case kit to repair broken remote $55, new remote key $257 Do you have the broken keys with the transmitters? If you have the transmitters themselves (the innards of the multi-function keys) you can buy Denso replacement uncut keys on eBay. Just bought 2 myself and inserted my old transmitters. They are C H E A P online (less than $15 shipped for two with free shipping) Most locksmiths can cut them for you, but I'm certain the one at the corner of 80 and Gallatin can.
Valve Cover Gaskets. Repair records show they were tightened, but it looks like they are leaking. Do you have to remove the intake to get to the valve covers? $21 each Might very well be able to tighten them again. If not, intake does NOT have to come off to replace
Suspension - at 184K it's shot. Won't make a change here for at least a year or more. Don't want a new driver in a lifted rig. If anyone has some decent stock height shocks, we may be able to use them. Depending on the size tires you want to run, may be no need to replace the suspension

It's almost impossible to pull the stock rear shocks without destroying them.

You should be able to get some Monroe's

Shocks alone will do a lot.
^ What Nolen said.......In fact, there are some that recommend cutting holes in the cargo area floor to access the top nuts on the rear shocks. I don't know if I'd go that far

You can order OEM replacements for 100 total for all 4 corners. Some may not agree with spending money on new shocks if you plan to lift it in a year or so. To me, it would be worth 100 to not have to listen or feel it bottoming out all the time.

True but Lash is too tight to buy a lift so he may as well fix the shocks

Real world advise is to let him peel out in it with the smashed up bumpers and plan on him doing dumb s*** in it

True but Lash is too tight to buy a lift...
...and plan on him doing dumb s*** in it

SOOO right on both counts!

Thanks for all the great advice everyone! Please keep it coming.

Since the accident was the silly girl's fault, the bumpers are going to get fixed one way or another. I'd hate to see all that $$$$ spent on fixing OEM bumpers!
Any other ideas?

dude, if she holds the title, the insurance check should be madeher not body shop.

find a body shop that a friend of a friend knows, get him to cash insurance check and keep a $100 as a transaction fee. done and done.

ARB Sahara with polished hoop and fog light kit is on the wish list.
Where is the best/closest place to source one?
